Scouting Report:
The last time Wright faced the Padres, he allowed 10 runs (seven earned) on 10 hits over 5 1/3 innings. Two starts later, however, the right-hander went on a three-game winning streak. In his six starts since the Padres loss, he has compiled four losses and two no-decisions.
Park's last start was his worst in June, allowing five runs in five innings, three of those off solo home runs. Despite the rough outing, Park is still 3-1 in June in five starts, and his strikeout-to-walk ratio is still at 2:1 in that stretch.

Saturday, July 1 PETCO Park | 12:05 PM PT

Matt Cain, RHP (6-6, 5.20)VS.Mike Thompson, RHP (3-2, 4.30)

Scouting Report:
The 21-year-old got roughed up in his last outing when he walked six and surrendered six runs in a four-inning appearance against the A's. He credited his performance to poor location, and Oakland's ability to take advantage of his mistakes. Cain's outing paled in comparison to his previous six, which ended in Giants wins. Five of those starts were personal wins for the right-hander. In five road starts this season, he is 3-2 with 21 strikeouts.
Thompson continues to impress with his ability to compose himself and work out of jams. He hurt himself against the Mariners on Sunday with a throwing error that led to two unearned runs, but he righted himself afterward to pitch through the seventh, allowing only two earned runs. Thompson could be headed back to Triple-A Portland before long, but not because he has disappointed. On the contrary, he has pitched himself into the picture for next season -- or later this season -- with his savvy efforts.

Saturday, July 1 PETCO Park | 7:05 PM PT

Brad Hennessey, RHP (3-1, 2.59)VS. Woody Williams, RHP (3-1, 3.27)

Scouting Report:
Hennessey will come out of the Giants bullpen Saturday evening to make his sixth start of the season. The reliever has started 33 games in his three-year career, and will make an appearance to help the starting rotation with Saturday's doubleheader. For his career, he is 9-4 with a 3.31 ERA away from AT&T Park. The Padres are batting .150 against him lifetime at PETCO Park.
Williams was doing his best work since 2003, when he was 18-9 with the Cardinals, when he injured a calf muscle running the bases in Chicago on May 12. He has come back more quickly than the club anticipated, looking impressive in a Class A rehab start for Lake Elsinore, and the veteran right-hander is determined to come back pitching as effectively as at the time of his injury.

Sunday, July 2 PETCO Park | 1:05 PM PT

Matt Morris, RHP (6-7, 4.24)VS.Chris Young, RHP (7-3, 2.97)

Scouting Report:
Morris has been on a tear lately, and doesn't show signs of stopping anytime soon. The right-hander has three straight starts, including an eight-inning gem against the Rangers on Tuesday where he gave up only one unearned run. During that stretch, Morris has totaled 23 innings pitched, allowed four runs and struck out 16.
Young continues to provide All-Star caliber work. Holding the A's to no runs and two hits in six innings, striking out six and walking four. Young is 4-0 in his past six starts with a 0.93 ERA. He has given up 17 hits while walking 15 in his past 38 2/3 innings, striking out 42. The 6-foot-10 former basketball star has a clean delivery that doesn't place excessive stress on his arm, and his 91 mph fastball continues to explode on hitters with late life.

Giants split the series and are just one game out of first. I am too tired to write a lot but apparently Feliz is a RBI machine and Morris is getting into form. Shame on Wilson and Accardo for blowing those two games for we could have easily had a sweep!

I believe Adam Dunn homered in every game played at Petco last year.
