PHOENIX (AP) -- The San Francisco Giants placed first baseman Lance Niekro on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a right groin strain.

To fill the roster spot, the club recalled first baseman Travis Ishikawa from Double-A Connecticut.

This is the second stint on the disabled list this season for Niekro, who was sidelined from May 15-29 with right shoulder bursitis. He's hitting .255 with four home runs and 26 RBIs.
