Scouting Report:
Moehler won his third straight decision in his last start against the Giants. The righty went six solid innings allowing two runs on six hits with three strikeouts and also hit an RBI single to get his first career win against the Giants.
Lowry allowed only five hits over six innings in his last outing at Florida, but one pitch turned into a three-run homer by Miguel Cabrera in a 5-3 defeat. Lowry is now winless over his last four contests, losing three with one no-decision.

Scouting Report:
A strong seven inning outing by Johnson was wasted in his last start against the Giants, as the Marlins' lineup was unable to back up his effort with any offensive spark. The outing was Johnson's first loss since joining the starting rotation and his first overall since April 24.
Schmidt is on one of the rolls of his career with five straight victories. Over than span, he sports a 1.36 ERA, and he finished a perfect month of May with a 4-0 record and 1.17 ERA over 46 frames. He struck out 10 batters over 5 2/3 innings in the Giants' 6-1 victory at Florida last Wednesday.

Scouting Report:
Willis had his fourth consecutive strong start in his Coors Field debut Friday night, limiting the Rockies to two runs on seven hits. Both runs came on solo homers. The win was Willis' first in over five weeks, but the results had not reflected his performance of late. In his previous three starts, he had pitched nine, eight, and six innings, allowing two earned runs each outing without securing a win.
Hennessey is likely to make a spot start here after a rain delay forced Matt Cain to pitch Saturday in a doubleheader against the Mets. Hennessey has allowed only one run in six innings with a 1.50 ERA over three relief outings. The right-hander had been a starter over his career until put in the bullpen -- that saved him from heading to Triple-A Fresno.

Left-hander Noah Lowry is winless in his last four outings with a too-high 4.74 ERA over that stretch, and he hopes some home cooking will turn his season around when he faces Florida at AT&T Park.
That record, however, is a bit deceptive. Lowry lost, 1-0, to Oakland on May 19 and allowed only three earned runs over six frames in a loss to St. Louis on May 24.

Lowry succumbed to the Fish last Tuesday at Dolphin Stadium, 5-3, with one pitch -- a two-run homer to Miguel Cabrera -- ruining his night.

The Giants bullpen could be bolstered on the homestand, with reliever Tim Worrell recovered from a neck strain.

"He's due to come off the disabled list Monday after pitching in extended [Spring Training]," said manager Felipe Alou.

Lowry makes his seventh start of the season and fourth lifetime vs. the Marlins. He is 1-1 with a 3.93 ERA over his first three outings, but he'll face Florida for the first time in San Francisco.

Shortstop Omar Vizquel is batting .333 in his career against Moehler, going 7-for-21 with a triple.

Giants win 14-2 and Bonds hits HR 716. Lowry goes 5 strong inn. giving up one run. Hennessy goes 4 very strong innings giving up only 1 run. Pitching was great and so was the hitting. All in all it was a great game. The other plus was the Giants gained a game on all NL west teams as every other team in the Division lost!

Giants right-hander Jason Schmidt is back to his old -- well, two years ago -- dominating self.
The winningest pitcher in San Francisco history (.706) is riding a five-game winning streak with a 1.36 ERA, and his extraordinary performance in May (4-0, Majors-leading 1.17 ERA) earned him National League Pitcher of the Month.

Schmidt, a Cy Young Award candidate two seasons ago, will make his 17th career start against the Marlins at AT&T Park and hopes to continue his brilliance vs. the Fish. He's 7-0 lifetime with a 4.75 ERA and defeated them, 6-1, last Wednesday in Florida.

"Everything is better," said manager Felipe Alou of Schmidt's pitching since early-season troubles and an 0-2 start. "He's throwing harder, he's a healthier guy."

The Giants are 7-4 in his starting assignments, having won six of his last seven with two of the four defeats coming by two runs or less. He's worked at least six innings in 10 of his 11 starts.

Backup catcher Todd Greene has proven to be a solid hitter in his 11 starts, and he's seeing more action with starter Mike Matheny out with a concussion. He's batting .410 in his starting assignments.

This may be the best game of the series! Schmidt has pitched lights out in recent games and seems to be strong. Josh Johnson has pitched very well fo the Marlins so this could be a real test for the Giants and Schmidt. Lets hope that Schmidt gets the support and the Giants a Victory!

I hope so but I think that may be too much to ask! Remember pitchers get sharper and he is stsrting over again. Tough to think he will be right back in the groove but we will see. I hope he can but I fear he may not. JMO

Great win! Todd Greene has been swinging a good bat all year long and did so again last night going 2-3 with a BB and a RBI. Felix went 3-4 in the 7th hole which I would like him to stay. Winn having a 3-4, 3 RBI day should help him get back into a groove.

Let's hope Alou picks up where he left off -- leading the league in hitting!

Just Alou's presence behind Bonds might be good enough for now until Alou gets back into the swing of things. With Alou back, Felipe should start going with a set lineup to get these guys settled in.
