    Moises Alou Still Hurting!

Alou hits plateau: Outfielder Moises Alou, who suffered a severe right ankle sprain on May 5 at Philadelphia, was progressing rapidly initially, but over the weekend hit, as trainer Stan Conte put it, "a ceiling."

"How long he's going to be at this level, I can't tell you," said Conte. "He made great progress for two weeks, but now we have to slow it down. He's leveled off, which was predictable."

The original prognosis was for six weeks until full recovery, and it's now only 2 1/2 weeks since the injury.

Manager Felipe Alou said he hoped his son would be healthy enough to play against the Florida Marlins in Miami starting May 29, but Conte says "the ankle will tell us" the timetable.

"We're not going to back off on his program, but we just can't progress it yet to the next level," said the trainer.
Kid & Reefer this is the latest on Moises Alou. I guess time will tell.

This setback is not a good thing. We need Alou's bat back in the lineup.

This is exactly what I was saying the other day. "Sprains" can be problematic. Rushing a player back is the wrong thing to do under almost any circumstance. The possibilty of this ankle sprain being a season long problem is very likley unless they let it heal fully.

Thanks god for Steve Finley! Without him we would be in trouble!

I like Finley though. He's been playing very well. Too bad we don't have the DH in the NL. Barry could go to the bench and Finley could stay in the OF when Alou returns. Oh well -- I never liked the DH rule anyway.

No, I don't like the DH rule either but if Bonds intends to play next year I fear he will do so as a DH in the AL!

    He hurts my fantasy team.
For the second year in a row. The auto draft just loves dumping him on me.

This comes from Moises who said he pissed on his hands to make them tough so he did not have to wear batting gloves. His father says this is not true and that his son was playing with the reporter at the time. Now People think Alou pisses on his hands including some people on this forum. Some people will believe anything.

    No question about that.

But this thing about him pissing on his hands, IMO is just way too much information.

Some things are just better left un-said.
