You know.........now that Boston needs an OFer because Coco went down......and we need an arm since Estes went down.........how 'bout Wells in a non-blockbuster deal...........Freddie Guzman for Wells.......lol something along those lines since we're clearly never going to use Guzman since he didn't get called up when Cameron went down. That's something I'm still curious about......future CFer doesn't get the call up when starting CFer goes down......hmmm

well sure, and if they put me there I, too, would technically be the Padres #2 starter.

But you aren't honestly telling me Estes is our 2nd best starting pitcher, are you?

    I'd take CHP over Estes

I think you could easily argue it.......... Estes didn't get dismissed to the bullpen like CHP and Woody.......so yes I think it easily debated that he's perceived as our #2 starter

    precieved? or is?

Chris Young was a hellva lot more dominant in his outing than Estes was IMO, despite the two bad pitches.

We haven't seen CHP start yet (this year)

If you ask me who our #2 starter is, you know by now, I'll say that we don't have one....... If you ask Bochy who our #2 starter was at the beginning of the season, he'll tell you Estes.........If you ask most fans who they think our #2 starter is at this point they would probably say Chris Young....

So there is my full answer for ya....... does that cover it all.....lol

i'd be willing to bet Estes pitched the 2nd game for match up purposes and/or because he's a "seasoned vet" not because Bochy thinks he's our 2nd best pitcher. But that's just a guess.

.......and I'd wager he pitched the 2nd game because Young looked so awful in spring training and more or less got demoted to the 3rd start........just my take after listening to Bochy

    Padres Park over Estes?

For saying you guys weren't doggin' on Estes, you're sure doing a lot of it. I agree that he's not the 2nd best pitcher, but he's a veteran that has some good stuff. He deserves to be on the rotation and I think he'll win 13-14 games for the Padres this year.

Well if he were our #4 starter, nobody would be dogging him, or even debating his worth, and for the record I'd take 13-14 wins from that spot...... but if anyone thinks for one second that Estes is a true #2 pitcher it's just crazy talk to me.......and he's who got run out there and annouced as our #2 arm.......and that was primarily IMO due to Young having such a terrible spring......

    Padres

My argument isn't that he's #2 or 3, my point is that he's going to be an every day starter for this team.

.........and as long as he's down the foodchain around #4, he'll be a welcome addition, but for the top brass in SD to think he's belongs higher in a rotation than that is just crazy to me

you're getting too caught up on him having started the 2nd game.

The rotation is what it is, but it's not worse off just because Estes started the 2nd game, vice the 4th one.

Not really.....I'm just being realistic....and saying what I think.... "caught up" is how I feel about not having a true frontline #2 arm..... that's passionatly caught up.....

what I mean by "caught up" is that you keep insisting Estes is our #2 guy, and thus we have to react as such (losing our 2nd best pitcher) if he were to be injured long term.

He's NOT our 2nd best pitcher, he merely pitched the 2nd game of the season.
