    1st base in 2006

Well all reports are saying that Walter Young is just ripping the cover off the ball so far. Yes it's just soft toss mainly, yes it's just practice, but would having this guy start and play 1st base for us really be such a bad thing ? I'm not sold on Klesko being our guy, especially with other very real options. We have two guys much younger than him, both with far more skills than him, all they lack is the experience he has....... So which is the better choice ??

    Do you go with :

    Ryan Klesko
    Adrian Gonzalez
    Walter Young

or by committee and nobody becomes established

Definitely Klesko. He's the one with the experience and the proven power stroke. Maybe pull him late in games for a defensive replacement or pinch hitter against lefty relievers if needed.

Yeah I would have to agree with Dirty. Young and Gonzalez are not starters yet. I said that Young would probably turn out better than Gonzalez. Whatever Bochy does, he should not let Klesko hit second which has been thrown around ST.

I'm not sure that they would be any worse that what we've gotten from Klesko or the 1st base position over the last couple seasons anyway..... but I would agree that if Klesko is producing that he should get the starts.........I do think that Gonzalez is going to be a very good player however......probably the best 1st baseman we've had in a long long time should we keep him around.

Well it wont be a surprise, we already have discussed the fact that it's his contract year, and his last shot at a payday..... So if he blows up it wont be a surprise to me at all........it's what he should have been doing all along, and what he got paid crazy money for.....

    I could see .295 / 25 / 100 from Klesko this year no question.....

Unless 25 is his number of doubles, I wouldn't count on it.

    it's plausible

all he has to do is stay healthy. He was well on track for around that last year...until he slowed down.

Not that i'm counting on it or anything, but it's not out of the question.

I think Ryan will have another season like last year but we need to hope Bochy figures this out about his friend and sits him and puts in Gonzalez about mid-season. I think Gonzalez should be ready then. If he isnt i bet young will be so he can work too but i personally like Gonzalez better.

I don't think Ryan will have a chance to have a year like last year.........if he's not mashing the ball, he'll be sitting on the bench...... I don't think you're going to see him in the line up for very long if he's not putting up decent #'s this year..... Pretty much what Alderson said in multiple interviews, same with Chan Ho.........produce or find yourself sitting on your ass

I see a lot of fly balls to the warning track again for Klesko, contract year or not. His skills are simply declining.
