Padres Astacio deciding between Padres and Nationals.

    http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/featu...tures%2frumors

I don't have ESPN insider access, but someone who does told me the gist of what this says.

Basically Pedro's taking 48 hours to choose between minor league deals offered by the Padres and Nationals.

If he signs with the Padres he can't be on the major league roster till May 1st due to not being offered arbitration.
However, another rumor site has stated that Towers told Astacio he'd be 1st in line for a call up in May if they need help in the rotation.

My personal opinion? I'd rather have Pedro #@%$! Astacio than Estes in the rotation.

Who the heck would want to play for the freaking Nationals, the biggest loser franchise ever, in a city full of crack addicts and drug dealers, playing in a ballpark like THAT and for Frank Robinson, possibly the worst manager out there. This shouldn't be a tough decision at all.

Heck, even Sammy freaking Sosa, a washed up steroid junkie, would rather RETIRE than play for the loser Nationals. That says something.

Yeah it says that Sosa still thinks he's worth something. Nats will open some eyes again this year.

Answer : many hasbeen arms that need a cavernous ballpark like the one the Nats play in so that everything they toss up to the plate doesn't leave the stadium.........

Petco isn't cavernous.....in fact it isn't that big at all....... It's very avg.......it's the bay effect during night games that holds balls down, not the ballparks size...........

Left-Field Line: 334 feet pretty standard
    Left-Field Alley: 402 feet
Center Field: 396 feet shorter than many
Right-Field Alley: 411 feet SOON TO BE 400'
Right-Field Line: 322 feet short porch

    RFK's dimensions
Left field: 335 feet ( bigger than Petco ) by 1 foot
    Left-Center: 385 feet
    Center Field: 410 feet ( bigger by 14' )
    Right-Center: 385 feet
Right field: 335 feet (bigger by 13' )

not really a comparison.... the gaps are where petco has larger dimensions, and one of those is being shortened by 11' this season........

I really wish people would stop talking about the dimensions of Petco.......they are NOT and have NEVER been the issue. It's clouding the real problem that the Padres have had, which is not having a true power threat. If you want to comment on how the damp air from San Diego Bay effects the ball during night games........this is an intelligent comment that we can have a conversation about.....

you are correct. But, whether it be ball park dimensions, "bay effect", or people doing a Mexican hat dance that keeps the ball in play when it'd go out in other stadiums...the ball is still kept in play, and therefore HRs are still supressed

That said, the Padres line up is still pretty damn weak.

Whatever Pads, you keep saying it's easy to hit them out of right field in AT&T Park which is just flat out wrong. This has nothing to do with anything, I just like making fun of you for making silly comments. But it was kind of related.
