    Chargers thread

Hi guys. Just wondering what the heck is going on with the Chargers QB situation? Word is that the Bolts won't franchise-tag Brees ... possibly make him their transition player ... he might test free agency ... Bolts might go with Philip Rivers as the starter next year. How do you see this playing out?

From what I understand they won't even transition him because it'd eat too much of the salary cap (of which I thought they had more room...)

    we'll see.

I'm not quite as sure that it's as easy a decision as it once was now that he has the whole shoulder question and all.

Now that AJ Feeley trade looks worth it. It just didn't make sense after Brees' injury and the decision to keep Rivers as well.

Going Rivers-Feeley wouldn't be that bad, would it?

Quite honestly I didn't really like what I saw of Rivers in the last game.

Of course, i'd be more than willing to give him the benifit of the doubt considering his lack of experience he still has.

Gosh, I don't think Rivers is worth a damn. I'd pay Drew, trade Rivers for a 1st rounder while you still can, and continue on.

I would do the exact the same thing.......sign Drew long term, and trade Rivers to get the needed pieces to the pie that is SO very close to being done...... Ripping apart the teams heart at this point will set us back at least 3 years and will devistate team morale......I'm hoping that this is just posturing by the managment to get Brees to consider lowering his expectations due to his injury. The injury IMO wont have any adverse effects on Brees, and could in fact be a boon to his arm strength. Due to his focused rehab and direct strength and conditioning on his arm, he may come back with greater arm strength than before. Rich Gannon is a guy that had the same surgery ( while being 10 years older ) and came back much stronger than before the surgery.......so it's a very real possiblity, especially when you take into consideration Brees's work ethic......He's a warrior and to let him go would be a monumental mistake IMO......

There is talk of Seau returning to SD next year.... he was just released by Miami..... I think it could be a good signing as long as he's very very cheap $2M or less

Good luck with keeping him healthy.

Brees is gonna look great in a Miami uniform.

I believe the Dolphins will definately make a hard pressed effort to sign Brees but I believe he will end up back in SD.
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett

Highly unlikely. They had their chance to get him signed to a long term deal and then to tag him. Now the Dolphins and Ravens are going to show him some cash.

The latest reports are that Brees and the Chargers aren't even talking; that's certainly not a very good sign for his return.

He'll go to the Dolphins or the Ravens or the Lions and kick ass, while Rivers wll probably be okay.

Dolphins have cut McIntosh, Madison, Howard, and Seau over the past few days. Frerotte will get the axe if we sign Brees. We'll have more than enough cap space.
