Let's be honest, Randy Moss has been a problem everywhere he's been. I think the veteran players in New England told him how it was going to be when he came there and if he couldn't deal with it, he didn't belong there. I'm glad he's stayed out of trouble....so far.

I'm starting to change my opinion now, however, on what a guy roaming the sidelines can do to a team.

It's a good point, a lot of people, myself included, say that it's the players that make the difference. Seeing the talent that San Diego had last season and this season (not much difference with exception to a few players), it's unbelievable the difference in the team's dimeanor between under Marty and Norv.

Maybe that will change my mind on that belief. I know who the Chargers should hire next season...PAT HILL!! Kidding, I don't want him leaving Fresno State, but I think he'd be a great coach in the NFL one day.

    I don't want a college coach

I'd much rather hire someone's top notch coordinator, or maybe convince Cowher to come out of retirement.

Speaking of Cowher, I'm really surprised he's stuck to his guns on not coaching this season and enjoying his family. More power to him. When was the last time you remember a former coach said that and didn't re-appear with someone else. I had heard rumors, prior to the 2007 college football season, that he was asked about the West Virginia job, I think that was his Alma Mater or something like that and he turned it down.

As far as a college coach goes, it seems like college coaches are better off as just that, they don't seem to have great success in the NFL or NBA for that matter. Look at Rick Pitino (NBA - Boston, Knicks, now HC at Louisville), Jerry Tarkanian (NBA - San Antonio College: Long Beach, UNLV, Fresno State)

    Interesting tid-bit on Pat Hill....

He then went to coach in the National Football League with the Cleveland Browns (under Bill Belichick) and the Baltimore Ravens, where he served as the tight ends and offensive line coach for both teams

Pat Hill - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is also something I love about coaches who push their athletes to excel in the classroom and not just on the court/field.

Also under Hill's leadership, Fresno State has greatly improved the academic performance of its football players. During Hill's tenure the team has produced (as of 2005) 65 Academic All-WAC players, compared to a total of nine in the entire history of the program before Hill's arrival.

I had joked about Pat Hill being the next coach of the Chargers and HWood mentioned that college coaches don't have a lot of success at the higher levels. Sorry, we'll keep it Chargers from now on.

I don't know if anyone heard the interview with Lorenzo Neal, but you could definetely hear the frustration in his voice.

S3F does not have a forum for the Chargers.

S3F is associated and runs off the same server as theNFLforums, which does have a forum for the Chargers, however.

So does this mean you jumped off the Texans bandwagon this year and hopped on Carolina's?

I used the term (bandwagon) loosely as a way of really just asking you if you "follow" them as well for similar reasons.

I know, and I do follow those teams, yes. I try to follow every sport where former Fresno State players are on the roster. Like the Charlotte Bobcats with Melvin Ely, Minnesota Twins with Matt Garza, Seattle Mariners with Jeff Weaver who was one hell of a pitcher when he was with the Bulldogs under Bob Bennett.
