A shitty deal for 2006 for the Pads but maybe a good one on down the line. Klesko will probably play out the rest of his contract at first base with Adrain possibly coming in after. Young is a good young starter who shows a lot of promise and will be in a pitcher's park. But you guys lose your number two and have lost your best relievers.

Young is an upgrade over Eaton long term. Sledge is an upgrade over Johnson for this year.

I like this trade from both team's perspective.

I think the Fathers got the better of the deal. Eaton will get eaten alive in Texas...They had to deal him because he was *****ing about the team recently.

I don't see Sledge or Johnson getting much playing time at all.

Anyways, I like this deal. I recall Young being pretty good last season.

Yes, I love this deal. Young put up similar numbers to Eaton last year...in TEXAS! (of course, I say this only making a cursory look at those stats, didn't analyze them too much, yet)

looking at the stats, I don't know if we lost our #2, they both (Eaton and Young) put up similar numbers last year. The only difference is, Young was in a bandbox while Eaton was in PetCo.

I'm liking what i'm seeing. Young had a great year, minus one horrid month (July)

I said Young would be good down the road. It's just the fact the pads lost their bullpen and still have Chan Ho Park.

you're right, we will miss Aki. But i've been viewing 2006 as a push year anyways. There's only so much they can do with the financial restraint they have with the bad contracts still on the books. (Park, Klesko, Woody)

I think Sandy's doing an excellent job doing the best he can for 2006 without hurting 2007 and beyond and also setting up nicely for 2007 and beyond. This trade is another excellent example of that.

Young is cheaper and younger than Eaton and isn't a free agent after 2006.

Awesome. Adam Eaton says he thinks he's going to miss 3 months. Every trade the Padres make turns out to be gold. First they get rid of Brian Lawrence who goes down for the season, now Eaton's probably out for half the year.
