    Padres Hoffman resigned!

    http://sandiego.padres.mlb.com/NASAp...t=.jsp&c_id=sd

PFF, all of our bickering was all for naught, Trevor signs on the bottom line. 2 years, 13.5 mil with an option for a third year that would make it 19 mil, or a 2 mil buyout. 6.75 mil per year aint too shabby. I guess Trevor is commited to this team/city afterall. (considering the Indians were offering more than that)

For the record I was never against resigning him, I just didn't think his loss would've been as big of a deal as you (and others) would've.

edited to add that that third year option with the buyout kicks in if Hoffman finishes 90 games total in '06 and '07 or 45 games in '07.

No back peddling now.......lol........just kidding.........hey we're all entitled to our own opinions......which is the point of having a forum to begin with..... the more varying thoughts the better the forum....... we are clearly two different minds with regards to how a ballclub and ballpark operate.....there isn't much wrong with that........

I'd like to add one thing ........... If we sign Kenny Rogers I will NOT go to any of his starts...... what the hell are we even talking with him for ? how about picking up a mid to late 20's stud #2 starter like we needed last year and forget about the older than dirt arms ( unless you sign Clemens )

i'm actually extatic with this deal. The bulk of my arguments was against beating the Indians' offer in order to resign him, which they didn't do. They upped their offer a bit, but the Indians' offer was still more substantial.

Trevor proved that he actually wanted to stay here. (well that and his wife apparantly was adamant against moving to Cleveland )

well, Kenny was signed by the Tigers, so no need to boycott.

Yeah it is stupid as there are 8 other players on that field. Not supporting your team is being a bad fan.

Not supporting stupid moves is also still being a fan. As a lifetime Pads fan, I have earned the right to support or not support. If Bonds* came to play in SD, I'd not support him. Even if he smacks 60 HR's a year BMF (before moving fences). Stupid is as stupid does, so says Forrrest Gump.....what does that even mean......

I don't think LTR is arguing against the basic concept of not supporting the team if management is screwing up right and left. I think he's just saying it's dumb to do it for a solitary move you don't agree with (such as signing Kenny Rogers), due to the fact that there's still 8 other players on the field that can help them win. Just look at Ismael Valdez.

    Padres

Well then lucky for me I'm a lifetime Padre fan too I guess...........and I choose not to attend the games of my choice........I go to 50+ games a season and if I don't want to attend starts by a pitcher that I think is a shitty pick up.......then that's my choice.......it's not "stupid"......I still go to more games than the avg. fan........far more........ supporting a bad move does nothing for the team IMO....... fans are so limited with what they can do to show their displeasure with roster moves that this IMO is a great way to do just that......... You trying to spin this off about me not supporting the 8 other guys is hilarious....... especially when you know I attend a truckload of games to begin with, since we've talked about that in the chatroom

lmfao @ that ignorant thought process but good effort....... IMO supporting a lying cheater is the biggest joke so try again Bonds lover

I know you're more responding to LTR, but just for the record I wasn't exactly agreeing (or disagreeing) with him, I was just explaining what I thought he was trying to say.
