    The Padres also are expected to re-sign utility man Geoff Blum, who played most of the 2005 season for them before going on to help the White Sox win the World Series.
    On a minor note, the Padres are also expected to resign Blum.

    I like both of them, don't understand why Nady wasn't given much of a shot. But Cameron is a GG caliber player in center and brings some power and speed. But he'll strike out a lot.

    Gives them that nice fielder they once had in Kotsay. He should also be used to playing in pitcher's parks.

    not really. Cameron is a huge upgrade defensively.

    and i'd rank this move 100x better than Woody for Lankford, and even much better than the Giles trade.

    by ever i meant horrable or somthing I know it could have been worse. But Nady 9is going to be huge. And I read the Pads are picking up all 7 mill. There had to be a better CF option that wouldn't have cost us Nady. Now that our 1B of the future is gone we better trade TX for Gonzo.

    and to coppy the rebuttle over here...

    I don't get all the Nady love, really. I mean I acknowledge his potential, but that's all it is right now, potential.

    The guy has still yet to prove he can hit right handed pitching or play at least average defense.

    I'll grant you he hasn't played on a daily basis yet, but none-the-less he has yet to prove any of that.

    leo you know i respect you but this time we will disagree. And I would like permission to say I told you so once Nady is an all-star in NY.

    of course you can say that if he's an all star in New York. But i'd like to ask for permission for the following.

    1. I can say "I told you so" if Nady is nothing more than a utility player, or even a mediocre starter in New York.

    and

    2. To label it a good trade even if Nady's an All Star if Cameron is successful as a Padre and especially if he's also an All Star.

    It's a deal ( no no news on the physicals. Just the Childish i told you so's)

    After having a night to sleep on it and get over my initial shock and like for the Xman. This may not be such a bad deal. depending on where the Padres go from here. If this is it for the offseason except a couple changes to the bench I am not satisfied. but if we make some more deals to get some more young talent in continuing to revamp "My Padres" then Cameron brings us a couple things. A young vetran (he is only 33) and a player that will teach the youngins how to go all out how to hustle and give 110% which this team needs. However if we end up starting players like Dave Roberts and an unproven healthy Ryan Klesko and we play a Brian Buchanan type rather than getting the kids in there to learn or playing someone that gives us a chance to win. Than I have to ask what the point was. Sure if Cameron walks next year we get the 2 draft picks. and with Vinnys and Rhinos thats alreqady like 5 picks. But is Nady only worth 2 picks? I am intrested to see how this off-season turns out. If this was just a Towers move I would have crucified him by now. becasue I have lost respect and trust, But i heard alderson say he has been trying to get Cameron for weeks on the mighty 1090 and Alderson, as of now, I will give the benifiet of the doubt.

    //end rant

    Nady was NEVER going to be an allstar here..........it is for this reason alone that this is a good deal........... they finally cut him loose.......he was nothing for us ( only because we didn't play him ) and we had a very real need in CF that had to be filled.......it's a win win for both sides....... I hated seeing X go, however I hated seeing him on the bench even more.......
