Padres Padres may adjust PETCO dimensions

    http://sandiego.padres.mlb.com/NASAp...t=.jsp&c_id=sd

I am so against this I can't even begin to spew forth on it........

What do you all think........ Is the two year old ballpark fine or does it need to be tweeked?

It's not as if we've had mashers on this team that just can't jerk it out! The two teams we've fielded haven't exactly torn the cover off the ball everywhere they've played only to have warning track power in Petco! Our teams did exactly what they should have done with the talent they possessedUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! at changing a ballpark to suit a team instead of the reverse........Bad Move IMO

Your GM sounds like Dan O be afraid be very afraid . Barry Bonds is probably grinning ear to ear thinking that its going to be that much easier to hit it out of Petco during the Giants games there, would it maek THAT MUCH difference? Instead of hitting 15 hrs would it make much more difference than 25 at most?

it depends on how much they move it. I'm all for slight adjustments, but nothing major

Barry isn't exactly tearing up Petco.......I thin he has one HR there.....and that was a limp swing opposite field HR.......that only Balco should take credit for.........but I do hear what you're saying....... treating the symptom not the problem is what they are doing here by moving the fence in........it's the wrong way to handle this situation IMO

It says the wall in right-center would go from 411 to 395. That's about the distance that the leftfield wall at Comerica Park in Detroit got moved in I believe? A lot more homeruns as a result...

quite honestly, despite how much i've debated with pff about the effects of PetCo's dimensions I think i'd rather keep the dimensions as they are (and despite my last post, lol)

But, that said, i'm not going to get antsy about it until I see how it plays out

Hollywood.......I agree with that........just wish they'd let the ballpark play out for more than 2 years........I love having a spot with triples are born if you have speed.....that's excitement to me........ HR's are great of course......but we're going to have a OF built with speed it sounds like.......and that means doubles & triples usually....... now they are lessening that chance .....sounds like they can't get out of their way despite themselves to me.......

Either leave the fence and build an OF with speed.......or
Move the fence in and sign power hitters to play OF

That's something I'll agree with, now that I think about it more.

Why move the fences in if they're going all out for the speedy, less poewrful OFers?

In fact, that would be riddiculous, considering they did the exact opposite for the 1st two seasons.
