Is PetCo really a pitcher's park?

It's easy to convince yourself that you're right when you blow off facts presented to you.

The numbers don't lie.

Adrian Gonzalez would hit 40+ HRs if he didn't play 81 games at PetCo.

And the doubles thing doesn't make much sense.

PetCo isn't a pitcher's haven because of size, there's bigger outfields in the majors.

It's a pitcher's haven because the marine layer kills fly balls.

This serves two purposes.

Kills potential HRs, and leaves the ball in the air long enough for OFers to track them.

I agree that our offense sucks, and this only serves to make the numbers that much worse, but the park is a pitchers park, and the Cardinals having a good game doesn't negate this fact.

That's because you present to me flawed logic and fallible arguments, and when I present proof that backs up my arguments you blow it off and repeat the same flawed logic and fallible arguments I just got done disproving.

But, this is a futile effort on my part, because I know the second the Padres actually start devloping/acquiring players capable of hitting home runs you're going to come in here and say "I told you so" even despite the fact that I can almost guarantee their home/away splits will be similar to that of Adrian's and Khalil's.

Where are opinions differ is you want to pretend it's the only factor whereas I'm pointing out it's only part of the factor.

The Padres having a roster that'd struggle to hit HRs in Coors doesn't negate the fact that PetCo supresses home runs, it only makes the home run total by the home team that much worse.

Cards hit 4 HR's in the game.......

Yah lets move the fences in.....then we wont be the only team unable to hit HR's in our ballpark.........

Implication: The Cardinals hit 4 home runs in a game. This definitively proves that HRs can be hit in PetCo and therefore the only issue is that the Padres can't hit HRs, period.

Cesar Izturis hit a HR.........that alone is enough proof for most level headed thinkers........

Implication: If Cesar Izturis can hit a HR in PetCo anyone should be able to!

They on the TV broadcast were talking about that subject during that game......it was a topic......I was commenting on it.......sorry if you don't get the games and can't keep up or didn't follow......I forget that most of those left in here don't actually watch the games......
