Padres trade Nevin for Chan Ho Park and $$$

I don't know the details of the cash, but apparantly it's enough to offset the financial difference.

    http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/story/8687952

I'm not sure how I feel about this move, but Nevin can't block it because Texas isn't one of the 8 teams. The only thing they're waiting on is approval from the commisioner's office.

Put the stamp on the trade, Bud! Don't laugh too hard before you change your mind, though.

well, all I really have to say on this trade is apparantly the $$$ is enough to offset the salary differences. So, with that said..

    X. Nady > Phil Nevin
Chan Ho Park > Astacio and Tim Stauffer (at least for now)

So it's a good trade IMO

I don't really want Nomo, I was simply being facetious because the Padres are seemingly scrolling through the Dodgers starting 5 from the mid 90s

I dont understand this deal. Why is your team so interested in dealing Nevin? Ponson would have ben a better fit. Nevin vetoed the deal. What will make him want the Texas deal? Yet alone where they going to play him? Texas infield is set. They going to dh him or of?

I think he may veto this deal as well.

Nevin can't veto this deal. His NTC is (now) only a limited one that only allows him to veto a trade to 8 teams. Baltimore was one of the 8 teams, Texas is not one of the 8 teams. Nevin has no say in this trade and has already given a heart-filled farewell speach in a pre-game Padres/Reds game.

Chan Ho Park, on the otherhand, also has a NTC...but he has already chosen to waive it because he likes the idea of going to a pitcher friendly park in the NL.

As far as where Texas plans on playing Nevin, I don't know, but i'd imagine DH.

Oh, and CHP > Sidney Ponson.

Padresfanforever, I think this trade should serve as a reminder for you not to laugh too hard at our team right now. At the rate KT is going after former Dodger pitchers, the Padres will have Terry Mulholland, Kaz Ishii, Wilson Alvarez, and Elmer Dessens in the rotation.

I'm sure .Kobe would love to have his idol Kevin Brown back.

I understand this move. If we're going to have an exhuberantly high contract, it may as well be in a position that we can be better served (starting pitcher) and at the same time open up room for X. Nady to start more regularly.

I don't really fully understand the Olivo and Blum trades
