    Nevin playing catcher tonight!?!

WOW! Thay are really making him want to leave. Nevin useus his trade clause to vito his possible going to the Orioles and now has to suffer the consequence. I don't like this move at all from the Pads organization. But whatever makes them happ I guess.

Wow, Ramon must really be hurting

This isn't some random move they're doing to try and move Nevin out of town. He's already vetoed the trade, they're not going to do random things just to be cynical. Nevin has caught before, so if Ramon's hurt and might be for awhile (surgery?) perhaps they're weighing the idea of making Nevin the back up catcher (to Fick) as a way to keep him in the line up while X starts at first from now on.

If they wanted to "play hardball" they'd simply bench Nevin. Nevin does have some experience behind the plate. (he even caught half a game last season when Ramon was on the DL and Ojeda got hurt)

OK, I had no idea. It was definitely my initial reaction after I heard that the organization was definitely not going to allow Nevin to play his usual 1B to make room for Nady.

Man, I hate it when the Pads don't have an adequate catcher and are on the search. Anyone know of any prospects to bring up through the ranks? I know some of you pay more attention to the affiliates than I do.

Kottaras is supposed to be ready mid/late 2006, not before.

I could see the Pads trading for a defensive guy to work behind Fick and Nevin...Nevin's bat will be nice coming off the bench or late in the order, if he stays in SD.

Humberto Quinterro for Tim Redding is kinda looking bad right about now.

Towers has stated that finding a new catcher is taking presidence over another pitcher...

Towers' 05 "Operation: Save my job" campaign really isn't going too well.

Exactly Wilt......I do hope they don't rush him up.....that wouldn't do any good....he's still very young 21 I think.....

lol....the Quintero deal looked bad from the start....... oh well at least we have better than avg. back up catchers...... IMO......I do like Fick back there, leaves a little to be desired with regards to throwing runners out, but seems to have a good idea calling a game, and does a good job at the plate hitting......or getting on......or whatever is needed at this point........he is a former allstar......so not too shabby
