    Padres Padres sign Jon Garland

According to SOSD. Nothing quite like getting the Dodgers' sloppy seconds.

If Richard and Latos can pitch to their potential and CY can stay healthy the Padres might actually have a decent rotation.

I'm not holding my breath, though. The only thing I'm holding that for is mofo's pending pot shot at trading Jake Peavy now that I mentioned Clayton Richard.

Yep, it sounds like you can do without someone who not too long ago was arguably, "the best pitcher in baseball", and on any given start, can still pitch like one. Because Richard offers a different dimension to opposing hitters.

Hey, I've had dumbshits who told me how a supporting cast of Odom, Caron Butler, Chucky Atkins, and Chris Mihm made the Lakers a "deeper" squad, too. Gee, I wonder why that group failed to make a return trip to the Finals.

I'd pat myself in the back for accurately making the prediction, but it's nothing special. It's like predicting what the Sun is going to do tomorrow morning.
