Bush threw 30 pitches to live hitting w/o pain.......this is great news for his road to recovery

Baxter is getting some time behind the dish.......this is a great idea to explore this kind of option with him, since we're overloaded in the OF and at 1b.....who knows...maybe we'll end up with our own version of Russell Martin

Huffman and Blanks came out swinging......

and Jaff Decker picked right up where he left off raking.......Watch out for this kid.....he's a potential super stud......

    Re: 2008-2009 Offseason thread

NBC 7/39 is reporting that Padres owner John Moores is going to sell 49 percent of the team as part of a divorce settlement with his wife Becky.

This comes as a surprise, but it could ultimately be good news for the Padres franchise. There's been speculation that the Padres would severely cut back payroll this winter because Moores was going to potentially lose a major portion of his assets. Perhaps that will happen anyway -- these things rarely come together quickly -- but the Padres could be better positioned going forward with another owner.
Liek the article said, not good for this year but maybe next year.

    Re: 2008-2009 Offseason thread

If he only sells 49 percent isn't he still essentially the owner?

    Re: 2008-2009 Offseason thread

    49% of 80% is 39.2%

    So Moores keeps 40.8%
    New Owner gets 39.2%
    &
    SA and etal keep 20%

Moores is still the majority owner

    Re: 2008-2009 Offseason thread

It's 49% of the team, not 49% of his share of the team, no?
