The Braves are on crack if they believe that Yunel Escobar and their two worst starting pitchers (Charlie Morton and Jo-Jo Reyes) satisfies Towers' plan of improving his team.

You ain't lying........at that point I'd rather we did deal him to the Dodgers for a huge load in return.....

Kershaw, Kemp, Dejesus etc. excites me far more than that crap from ATL.....

Yes, Yunel ****ing Escobar!! He is a better all around hitter than Greene and along with Campillo and Reyes(who is only 23) and another prospect (will not be Hanson nor should it) the Padres will be getting a good 4 for 1 deal. Padres would get two starters that can help right away and a starting SS who doesn't strike out like mad and gets on base. The Padres can then Deal Greene to fill another void and dump even more salary.

Re: Jake Peavy traded this offseason?

According to the Arizona Republic, the rumor going around the GM meetings this morning was Jake Peavy to the Braves for Yunel Escobar, Gorkys Hernandez and a young pitcher not named Tommy Hanson.
Presumably, Jair Jurrjens is also out. Julio Teheran is another long shot, leaving Jo-Jo Reyes, Charlie Morton, Jeff Locke and Kris Medlen among the possibilities. It doesn't seem like enough of a return for Peavy, but there are still wildly differing opinions on Escobar. Some think he's very capable of blossoming into an All-Star, while others see him as just an average regular. If the Padres got him, it would be with the intention of playing him at shortstop and trading Khalil Greene. They would have the option of stashing Escobar at second for a year, but that wouldn't be part of the plan.
Here's another rumor for the mill.

Re: Jake Peavy traded this offseason?

Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan says the Cubs have moved ahead of the Braves in the Jake Peavy trade talks.
The Padres are reportedly asking for Jeff Samardzija, Felix Pie, Sean Marshall and Ronny Cedeno for Peavy. Getting Samardzija might be more trouble than it's worth considering there are still questions about how he'll fit for the long term. If the Padres want him, then it might result in either Pie or Marshall being taken out of the deal. Without Samadrzija involved, perhaps they could get Pie, Marshall, Cedeno and a couple of younger guys, with Donald Veal, Tyler Colvin and Jose Ceda among the possibilities. The names of Rich Hill, Mike Fontenot and Kevin Hart could also come up. Petco would seem to be the perfect place to try to get Hill turned around.
The Braves offer looks a lot better. Pie and Cedeno arevastly overhyped.

At least Samardzija doesn't have an ERA near or over 6.00.

Neither does Campillo who is actually a starter.

But they're not offering Campillo. Why? Because he is coming off his first decent year at age 30.

Campillo is rumored to being offered. This was Campillo's first real shot and he did well,

I meant to say that the Braves should know the Padres wouldn't want Campillo, anyway. He's 3 years older than Peavy, which would be counterproductive to their rebuilding plan.

But he can start right away which the Padres need. He isn't even the key piece to the deal

Re: Jake Peavy traded this offseason?

According to the San Diego Union Tribune, Jake Peavy and his agent have decided that they'd like Yunel Escobar to remain with the Braves if Peavy is traded to Atlanta.
In other words, Peavy wouldn't want his potential new team to be weakened by the trade to get him. "One of the things we will want to look at some point is, 'Who are you giving up? How much are you weakening your team to make this deal?'" agent Barry Axelrod said. "If Team X trades three starting pitchers and a starting shortstop to get Jake Peavy, that lessens their chance of being a successful team." Peavy demanding that the team dealing for him keeps all of its MLB talent would make life a lot tougher on Padres general manager Kevin Towers.
I like what Peavy is saying because he is right in his thinking. Only thing is the Braves could sign a SS like Cabrera or Renteria to fill the void. Braves have money cleared to fill holes in LF, the pen and rotation.
