Re: I have realized how much of a fanatic I am tonight
T.J. Simers called the Padres a minor league outfit. I was merely quoting him in response to pff's notion that I should be embarassed for T.J.
I agree that the Padres have had more success than the Dodgers recently as long as we count the Padres' 1998 NL Championship, but to say that the Dodgers have barely managed to stay competitive? Didn't the Padres' most recent two trips to the playoffs ended in first round exits, just like the Dodgers' most recent two trips? It seems like until this year we were on the same boat during this decade. This year, the Padres are the minor league outfit.
No, I don't want to talk about bad signings. Pff is the one who insists on talking about it, because his team isn't doing jack shit and laughing at the Dodgers' bad signings is the only ammunition he has against us. Hell, if the Giants were hypothetically in first place and my team was in last place, I somehow doubt that throwing Zito's $126 million deal at Giantsfan83's or reefer's face would make for a meaningful argument.
Re: I have realized how much of a fanatic I am tonight
Yah I sure couldn't use the fact that we just shit hammered your team last night  that would be too easy.........or how a rookie just shutdown your overpriced team tonight......again.....far too easy........or how our AAA club is beating you guys up this series ......again far too easy......
and I didn't say YOU should be embarrassed genius.......I said Dodger fans should........I didn't point directly at you.....
Fact is the LA Times is trash, and Simers is shit........together they are a perfect fit for that sty known as LA

The cutoff was 19 years because that's how long I've been a Padres fan.
I was a Dodgers fan before I became a Padres fan.

As sad as it is, many people in SD were in fact Dodger fans before they were Padre fans. That is until 1968. After that, the Dogs basically lost lots of fans in SD.
Re: I have realized how much of a fanatic I am tonight
I was only a Dodger fan back then because my mom was a Dodgers fan and did what all parents do, try to get their kids to like the same team.
My dad (Navy) was stationed in San Diego when I was watching the Dodgers win the WS in 88 with a Dodger hat on, but shortly thereafter I (being 8 years old) decided I'd like the local teams instead.
I stuck with them after my dad got restationed, though.

And, listen up. I didn't abandon my team. I abandoned football, period. I grew tired of it and focused on the baseball. So there. :p: Take your secret shame and shove it up your JFive ass. The CHargers suck and probably always will. But as Kobe referred to, at least SD has a football team. What does smellA have? The ex-home of the Lambs and Traitors?
Sorry bro, don't mean to be so mean. But you Dog fans just keep asking for it.
Re: I have realized how much of a fanatic I am tonight
He's trying to play the angle where we're apparently put in a corner because a fan of the football team that we also root for thinks something so we feel obliged to agree.
J-5 would also tell us baseball sucks and that we're all wasting our time rooting for any baseball team.

LOLOLOL......spoken like a true San Diegan. Right on bro. But.....I am stoked that the Dogs are 2½ games up on the D'bags.:clap:
Re: I have realized how much of a fanatic I am tonight
eh. It is what it is.
Besides, I enjoy bringing it up because I made the switch right after the Dodgers last won the WS.
They've won one playoff game since. I prefer to think of it like I cursed them.

Good job by Wade LeBlanc to shut down a starting lineup that had Nomar filling in for James Loney and Fatdruw in for Matt Kemp. The kid pitched well. Too bad that arson squad that you call a bullpen blew it for him. Keep feeding the fire to red hot Andre Ethier. Far too easy indeed.
Re: I have realized how much of a fanatic I am tonight
What are you talking about........Bell did his part to further our efforts on the Strasburg front.....

Andruw Jones, Kevin Brown, Jason Schmidt, etc etc.
I love how all you're arguing about is that the Padres have a better business model. That's true if your preference is to pocket revenue sharing money, don't spend what it takes to keep your All-Star players, cheap out in the draft, and profit.
It's like a page straight out of Donald Sterling's playbook.

Or Paul Brown, Jr. with the Bungals.
