    Re: Spring Training thread

Edmonds left todays game with a strained calf. Doesn't sound serious, but it could be forshadowing. Do you act now if you're KT and make a move to bring in that guy who can play CF, or is he on the roster already.

Gerut plays all 3 OF positions, and has done almost enough already to make the club.

Hairston is more of a corner OFer, but has been suggested as a possible CFer in a pinch. Could he move over for an extended role ?

Antonelli was a pet project for a short time....do you get him back in the mix ?

Will Venable is getting quite a bit of playing time in CF and could be the starting CFer in Portland.

Drew Macias is the guy that will likely start in Portland, but who knows how things will shake out.

    or

If you're KT do you make a deal to bring in a Coco Crisp, Reggie Willits or player like this to handle CF in the event Edmonds can't go ?

Headley hit a bases loaded, bases clearing double over Rowands head in straight away CF to stick the nail in his coffin today.

Has this guy finally earned his shot, and proven he's ready to play at the ML level ? What more does he have to do to at the least warrant the opportunity ?

Giants got to Young and he even allowed a Roberts homerun Couldn't hit Yabu too well though.

Giants got to CY in what.....the 4th inning ? And couldn't touch him for the first 3 ?? We were all wondering why he was being run back out there in the 4th, but I guess it's that time to start extending the pitchers a little.

Wrong as usual Young was lit up in the 3rd. Not worried about Lincecum. He had four K's and is working on a new slider.

Nothing wrong about asking a question.......only wrong to be a complete dick by trying to find something wrong where it doesn't exist......

I also am not really worried about any spring pitching #'s.....especially in AZ, but he was getting beat all over the place...

    Jeff DaVanon single
    Tad Iguchi HBP
    Barrett singled
Tony Clark single to load the bases
    Chase Headley bases clearing double

That's flat getting torched in the 1st.....

I take ST performances by those who have guaranteed spots on the roster with a grain of salt.

They're either not trying very hard and/or they're trying new techniques that they're not used to in order to try new stuff out.

No one was being a dick as you can see there was a smiley face. Correcting you isn;t being a dick and again, Lincecum was working on a new pitch. Young gave up one less run. Big deal? Nope!

I'll admit it, the only real information I get on the players and how well they are doing is what I get from the XX shows that are on all day and that I listen too through the internet.

So with that said it doesnt sound like he is doing poorly, but it doesnt sound like he's great either and that there is definitely room for improvement. Someone already said that he needs to work on his arm and accuracey of his throws.

Kinda what I expected in his first real go around at that position.

The question is whether or not he'll improve as he learns. (or relearns, I suppose, if he played it previously in his life)
