2008 Player Predictions/Projections (if you dare)

Each year people try to predict/project where and what guys are going to do......It's pretty early, and this can be subject to changes up until say opening day, so why not.......

    1B Adrian Gonzales .295 / 35 / 105 ---- Gold Glove
    2B Tadahito Iguchi .280 / 12 / 65
SS Khalil Greene .265 / 28 /102 ---finally learns to go with a pitch and blossoms
    3B Kevin Kouzmanoff .305 / 25 / 90 --- picks up where he left off and rakes
    C Josh Bard .280 / 10 / 70 ---continues to rake with RISP
RF Scott Hairston .280/9/45-- plays a great 4th OFer and key roles for us this year ( BA stays up due to fewer AB's )
CF Jim Edmonds .285 / 22 / 75 and plays a better CF than Cameron
    LF Chase Headley .310 / 18 / 81 / .409obp ---so says Bill James

    SP Jake Peavy 18-7 / 2.75 / 225 k's / 210 IP --- wins 2nd CY and finally gains some respect
    SP Chris Young 14-9 / 3.75 / 169 k's / 189 IP --work with trainer allows him a healthy full year
    SP Greg Maddux 15-8 / 3.85 / 149k's / 205 IP --typical Maddux season even a year older
SP Randy Wolf .......no idea yet
SP Clay Hensley 6-3 / 3.85 / 90k's / 110 IP --full comeback, splits time after mid May with Prior

Likely a touch positive, but why not error on that side ......

Edit: Only bash if you have the BALLS to post your own predictions.......otherwise your posts are worthless......

No ERAs 4.00 or over, no AVGs under .275?...someone's an optimist
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

Wolf will likely be over 4 era........and Hensley isn't pitching a full season in my predictions so I don't think he gets lit up the 3rd time he sees some teams cause he wont face them unless it's out of the bullpen.......I could have his innings too high though........

And I said it's likely erring on the side of positive......

He's got something to prove, claims to be 100% for the first time in a long time, and if this is true......then yes we might just be back in 2005

I just don't see Edmonds hitting 22 HR's in that park... If I were a Padres fan, I'd be happy with .275/15/70 and hope he plays a solid defense.

He doesn't have to hit 22 in PetCo.

He can hit 8 there and 14 on the road.

I think if Hairston gets enough playing time his power numbers are Waaayyyy better than that. The guy hit how many bombs in how short a time for us last season. Give him a full season of more AB's and I say he is closer to 15 HR's. Besdides the fact I think he should be starting in the OF over Headley because he has the ML experience. At least thats how the season should start. Hairstons a stud that should not be religated to the bench over a player thats barely sniffed ML playing time.

    IMHO.

    1B Adrian Gonzales .288/30/95-100+ K's
    2B Tadahito Iguchi .265 / 15 / 65-100+ K's
    SS Khalil Greene .252 / 25 /88-100 + K's
    3B Kevin Kouzmanoff .279 / 22 / 70
    C Josh Bard .285 / 10 / 60 ---continues to rake with RISP
RF Scott Hairston .266/9/45-- plays a great 4th OFer and key roles for us this year
CF Jim Edmonds .268 / 17 / 70 and plays a better CF than Cameron
LF Chase Headley- don't think he plays so I will do Giles instead .282/11/65

    SP Jake Peavy 16-7 / 2.75 / 225 k's / 190IP-already has respect
    SP Chris Young 14-10 / 3.75 / 169 k's / 178 IP
    SP Greg Maddux 11-10 / 4.15 / 149k's / 200IP

SP Clay Hensley 8-11 / 4.30 / 90k's / 110 IP --full comeback, splits time after mid May with Prior

Way too optimistic on the offensive side as they will struggle a lot with all the strikeouts and the fact that the NL West is better. The offense will hurt the win totals for your pitchers. No .300 hitters last year so I have no reason to think there will be one this year.

We dumped Merv and picked up Wally, may change that a little, and I am being optimistic here.
