Reed would be going from a pitcher's park to a pitcher's park so I don't see his offense getting any better but is a good option to fill in while Edmonds is down. The San Diego Union Tribune speculates that the Padres could be interested in Jeremy Reed.
Reed has clearly fallen out of favor in Seattle and he'd be a good fit in San Diego, especially with Jim Edmonds' status for Opening Day uncertain.
UT today is reporting that Edmonds might start the season on the DL......so it's possible......my only question is this......do we really want another OFer on this roster ? Or would this FO roll the dice with Gerut/Hairston/Crabbe filling in in CF, thus giving PMac a roster spot finally to maybe up his stock and make him tradeable (even though he's out of options )
Didn't know where else to put this but thought you guys might like to know.Padres claimed RHP Josh Banks off waivers from the Blue Jays.
Banks should consider himself one lucky guy. The Jays were never going to give him a chance as a starter, and he wasn't going to be able to survive in the AL anyway. The Padres don't have room for him right now, but he can take over the role Mike Thompson occupied the last two years as a fallback at Triple-A Portland. While he is quite hittable, he has very good command and he could prove to be a decent stopgap starter in the NL.
