Headley needs to learn how to play the OF first and foremost......that wont take long, but it will still need to happen........especially if he's going to help patrol a spacious Petco for 81 games ( or so )

I guess the question that is still in my mind is, how much time is enough as far as the Front Office is concerned. How many games, during Winter Ball and Spring Training, will be enough for the Padres' Brass to say "he's ready to start in LF in 2008"?

Since the reports were that he's not playing LF in winterball......I'd say a full spring, and a couple months in AAA at least........it's certainly not rocketscience, but there is still a learning curve that should happen NOT at the ML level.........add to this that Sinisi and Huffman are ahead of him for a corner OF job and it's hard to say

Which means I need to brush up on my knowledge of Sinisi and Huffman then, especially if they're going to be given a legit shot at making the team out of Spring Training.

    Re: Offseason Farm Updates

Sinisi is tearing it up right now..........had a very respectable season last year, plays very good defense, and could handle the corner OF role very well IMO.........we're not talking superstar player, since he's got very little pop, but very serviceable and likely a very very solid #4 OFer kind of guy who could end up surprising us with more.

DAMN! Sinisi is tearing up Winter Ball. If that's the case, maybe he will take that left field job. I'm for it...
