Should Trevor Hoffman be the closer in 2008?

I know the $7.5M option has kicked in for Hoffman, but should he be the Padres' closer next season or has Heath Bell's time come?

Hoffman should be the closer from April to mid September. From that point on, put Heath Bell in the role.

He is still a good closer. Maybe go with Hoffman and Bell as a committee to keep Hoffman's arm from wearing down late in the season. just an idea for you to ponder.

There's a lot of talk about Hoffman not returning for 2008, but I can't see him ending his career on such a poor performance.

I can't find the option for "split time with Heath Bell in the role"

Yes I think he should be. He is still a good closer. Yes he did blow the game at Colorado, but things like that happen. If I were a Padres fan I would still want him. Would hate to see him leave the Padres even though my team is in the same division.

Trevor's 40 years old and has to slow down at some point, nothing terrible at all about asking the question.

Thank You HWood. The 2 polls that were opened over the last few days were reactionary polls. I think Trevor has what it takes to continue to close ball games, but maybe next season is the time to see how Heath Bell handles that roll.

Why is it terrible to find out reactions to certain questions? Doesn't mean it's a terrible thread.

Re: Should Trevor Hoffman be the closer in 2008?

Just putting the idea out there for those unable to create their own thoughts is a bad idea..........there are plenty of idiots that regurgitate crap like this over and over until they believe it's a good idea........

.....and instead of dwelling on EVERY FA on the list, how 'bout we just stick to the guys we have a shot at, and a slight outside shot at..........otherwise it's just flapping gums.........

    Again......my opinion

But that's your opinion on the thread, not the idea.

But i believe it's safe to assume you think it's a terrible idea, fair enough.
