Here's an update on Mark Prior from Rotoworld.com.....
According to the Chicago Tribune, the Cubs will only tender Mark Prior a 2008 contract if he agrees to give them an option for 2009.
If the Cubs invest another year in trying to get Prior healthy, it only makes sense that they should be in line to reap any potential benefits in 2009. He's far from a sure thing to be ready to pitch by spring training, so any 2008 contract could pay zero dividends.

Broussard an attractive lefty bat
Nov 6 - Ben Broussard, stuck behind Richie Sexson in Seattle, could attract some interest from teams in the market for a left-handed bat, reports ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick.
Broussard hit 21 homers in 432 at-bats two years ago, but was limited to 240 at-bats with the Mariners in 2007. He's capable of filling a void at first base, a corner outfield spot or DH.
Broussard is eligible for salary arbitration and is in line to make more than $4 million next season. It's possible that some clubs might wait to see if the Mariners decide to non-tender him in December (thereby rendering him a free agent) before they step forward with trade offers.

I like this guy Broussard and wanted the Giants to get him since 05 with the Indians. I would still like the Giants to pursue him or even Sexson.
Isn't Sexson still under contract with Seattle?
As far as Broussard, I can't imagine the Padres being interested in him as a corner outfielder. Maybe a bench player as a backup 1st baseman when Adrian needs a breather.

Broussard and Sexson are under contract with Seattle.
I just can't imagine that the Padres can't find a better option than Broussard for a corner outfielder.

Heck, if the Angels ever wanted Juan Pierre (his contract not withstanding) for Reggie Willits, I'd say yes to that in a sec and say to you good luck getting Aaron Rowand for 10 times the price of Willits.
I don't know much about Willits, so it's hard for me to say if I'd want to bring him on board. From what I know, his batting average wasn't great but he had an OBP close to .400, which is what this Front Office prefers.

I'd rather have Crawford than either.......I'm not a Crisp fan, just think he's the best fit considering everything we're looking for from a guy to play CF......There is a huge list of guys I'd rather have.......most are simply unrealistic for this team........so why bother...........
Willits wouldn't be a bad guy, but from what I've been able to find on him he projects as nothing more than an avg defensive OFer, zero HR power, good OBP, good BA, good speed, likely a doubles machine in Petco.......
I can see what Alderson might like him.........he would also be cheap allowing for money to be spent elsewhere........I could probably be pursuaded to look hard at this guy over Crisp..........he wont cost nearly what Crisp would in players or money that's for sure........and if he
I'd rather have Crawford as well, but that's irrelevant to the discussion.
The funny thing is, you can say the exact same thing about Crisp. Only his OBP isn't half as good as Willits' is.
That's the best part.
He won't cost as much as Crisp despite the fact that he's better.

It's relevant because someone keeps suggesting Crisp is my golden choice, when thats far from the truth.......I'm simply showing that he's not, and there are others out there that I'd rather have, but they are unrealistic, so why bother......I'd rather have Crawford as well, but that's irrelevant to the discussion.
Crisp is a way above avg CFer on defense, and in this ballpark that has to be a top skill when deciding who we want. Maybe moreso than most things when talking about CF. Avg D might not be enough. The rest I agree with, which is why I see why SA might be interested in him, and why he might be an ok fit.The funny thing is, you can say the exact same thing about Crisp. Only his OBP isn't half as good as Willits' is.
Why are you acting like I'm saying don't do this ?? I don't think I ever said don't go get Willits did I ? I don't think I said Crisp over Willits did I ? Or is the implication made by LTR that someone did enough to make it real ?That's the best part.
He won't cost as much as Crisp despite the fact that he's better.
