    Padres Meet the Padres

    Interesting article from Scott Miller

One month in, it was amusing.

    Two months in, intriguing.

Three months in and ... OH MY LORD! The San Diego Padres are still in FIRST PLACE?! With the second-best record in the NATIONAL LEAGUE?! What the &%$##!?

Shhh! Stop talking in capital letters. That's their clubhouse door just up ahead. And if they're going to contend despite the majors' second-lowest payroll ($38.7 million on opening day), don't you think it's high time you learned a few things about baseball's biggest surprise this summer?

Come, follow me through the clubhouse door. Hurry! Batting practice will be starting soon. ...

Losing streak at 7 games and counting.

P.S. If it keeps the Giants out, I don't care if what I said results in a reverse jinx. Plus, you would be pitiful to be hoping for such a thing.

I'm hoping for them to start winning again, regardless of the cause.

    Re: Meet the Padres

If someone had told every single Padre fan back in March that the Padres would be around 20 games over .500, and have a 4+game lead in the NLWest......there isn't a single one that would be anything other than stoked......our first.....ONLY......losing streak of the season and it's funny how the vultures circle....

How great would it be to see the Giants, Rocks and Dogs hit a 7 game skid over the next week or so

    Re: Meet the Padres

I'd rather the Padres start winning again over hoping the Giants and Rockies start losing.

Although It would be nice for the Rockies to lose their next three.

Padres don't have a 4+game lead in the West

    Yeah, it's 3 now.

And now they have a rookie on the mound making his major league debut to try and play stopper. That's brilliant.

All well, start winning and all is forgiven.
