I don't buy into the myth that the only way to show him "loyalty" would be to give him whatever George Steinbrenner, Ned Coletti, Aurturo Moreno, Cubs Owner du jour, etc dictate they "should" give him.Quote:

Class, did any of you learn ANYTHING by that waste of an hour with Sandy Alderson yesterday?
Alderson is such a spin doctor and has zero clue how to conduct an interview on the radio. At times he sounds defensive and insecure and at other times he pretends he doesn't know the numbers or stats - This coming from the CEO and officical Stat Geek.
He is a liar and this is the exact reason why I dont trust the Padres' front office or John Moores. They are lying about revenue and are making money hand over fist. They have the resources to make the team better but for some reason at this date and time don't want to do so.

Moores is not a stupid person. If he had a resource available to him to make more money on his business don't you think he'd use it?
Add to that a very good point, that for the first many years of the park they are paying a butt load in interest taxes, that will go away over time, but for now it is a cost that many other teams dont have. I also appreciated the point he shared about the revenues we get compared to what a simililar market as Seattle gets in Television revenue. 6 times more is a pretty big jump and alone could pay for one players salary.
On the comment that Sandy Alderson made yesterday, saying that Moores didn't mean what he said about "bringing a big name player in to San Diego to give this franchise some financial stability". The columnist that Moores made that comment to, Barry Bloom of MLB.com, will be on Too Much Show tomorrow to talk about that interview.
That was a good bit of information, something I wasn't aware of either. I never would have guessed that Seattle would get 6x the revenue that San Diego gets from it's Television market.Quote:

Check out that site....I found it interesting as far as what the current value of the team is. The Padres are ranked 16th in baseball in total value, but are 2nd to last, in front of the Yankees, in Operating Income.

Not saying that he will ask for that, or even close to that, but to say they should "show loyalty" and equate that to giving him whatever he asks for implies that they're not being "loyal" if he were to ask for that and they were to subsequently turn it down....as they should if he asked for that.
I think the Padres can display "loyalty" to Jake Peavy without giving him anything and everything he asks for.
