Re: Padres claim Kai Igawa off waivers

He could very well be expendable, as long as he does better than what Gagne has been doing in Boston. Boy, what a bad deal that is turning out to be.

You guys wouldn't mind giving Meredith for Igawa? A guy who makes nothing for a terrible pitcher who makes $4 mil/yr? You guys have lost it!

hes junk, no one wanted him and he keeps getting rocked, I dont understand what the Pads see in him. Maybe Balsley watched some tape on him and thinks he can fix him?

Igawa wouldn't be the first pitcher to fail in New York and do well elsewhere.

Not that I'm making any predictions.

I'd be hesitant to trade Cla for him...

Refresh your memory. Remember how bad Jeff Weaver was with the Yankees, how many times he got booed off the mound....then he signs on with the Dodgers and pitches great for them. Signs with the Angels in the offseason, sucks, gets traded to St. Louis and becomes a big part of their World Series Championship team.

Just because he's getting rocked in NY, doesn't mean he won't have better success in San Diego.

Exactly right......a move from the ALEast to the NLWest alone is going to have huge effects.......

Yeah you have a point there, but that is more of an anomoly than the norm. MLB hitters are the same all around, and Kai was getting shelled. My buddy who lives in NYC told me that this guy was a launching pad and everyone wanted him gone. I might go to school out in NYC and I cant wait to boo some players at Yankee Stadium.

MLB hitters are the same all around? Not exactly, there may be a few that are alike, but they aren't the same.

Another example of an AL pitcher succeeding in the NL...how about Chan Ho Park? Got shelled in Texas, came to San Diego and did pretty well. Wasn't lights out, but did a lot better than he did in Texas.

How about Randy Johnson, got booed mercifully in NY, went back to Arizona and had some real nice outings before going down to injury.

Bronson Arroyo (except for this season), was traded from Boston to Cincinnati and was almost unhittable last season.

I'm sorry, but an 88 MPH fastball up in the zone is hittable everywhere.

He literally refuses to listen and keep the ball down, so **** him.

Jeff Weaver has never been great from his start with Detroit to present day and Randy Johnson was actually healthy for a while this year which he wasn't in NYY. Chan Ho Park blew **** for you guys. What the hell are you talking about?

Re: Padres claim Kai Igawa off waivers

I'm not going to make any grandiose predictions for Kai, nor am I going to even get my hopes up in regards to him.

The only thing I will say is that he wouldn't be the first, nor the last person to suck in New York and succeed elsewhere.

And I doubt I'd like the deal if it included Cla...in fact I'd probably hate it.
