Re: Maddux would rather walk Bonds than give up 755 or 756

.....and on the AB where he got called out looking.......a couple pitches before, he should have been rung up......and got sqeezed........umps giving Bonds a tighter strike zone might be the weakest thing about this HR chase.......his strike zone is the size of a shoebox........literally........truely pathetic.......

Hopefully he's checked out mentally this series, and is now just waiting to get back to SF..........back to the blinder faith followers

Smoltz, Willis, Penny, and pretty much every pitcher he's faced since #754 has gone after him. They like a challenge but apparently Maddux doesn't. Maddux is a coward!!

Bonds might sound like a pussy (he does) but he has never been a pussy. Ask Jeff Kent.
Would you like to recant this statement Reefer? Boy, you came with strong comments when the game hadn't even started yet. Keep your "coward" statements to yourself until the game is over, then you can say what you want.

Is it just me, or is the home plate umpire severely squeezing the strike zone when Barry's at the plate? Bell threw 2 fastballs on the outside corner that were called balls, but it was the same location that Mackowiak got rung up on. I don't care who's at the plate, you don't squeeze the strike zone just because it's Barry....you can't change your calls just because he's taking pitches.

I already did if you cared to read. I can say what i want when I want so you can just stop your wishing. When A guy like Maddux said what he said, I take it at face value which is why I said what I said.

Leo, Bonds has struck out looking a bunch in the past couple of seasons. Players of Bonds' magnitude get the calls just like Glavine and Maddux get the close calls. The way it has always been.

That doesn't make it right. But yeah, that is correct.

Re: Maddux would rather walk Bonds than give up 755 or 756

Maddux didn't get the close call during the B*nds AB..........kinda the ****ing point here.......in fact he didn't even get the right call when he threw strikes over the plate that were called balls, because the umpire was sqeezing him....

HOFer facing HOFer..........maybe the umpires should go ahead and have a legit zone that way neither HOFer has an advantage

Maddux got some close calls to and to say it was a phantom foul tip is just dumb as none of us were in striking distance of the batter's box. Maddux did strike him out looking so yes he did get some close calls, all HOFers do!

Re: Maddux would rather walk Bonds than give up 755 or 756

I wasn't in striking distance of the batters box, but I was within eyesight of my computer as I watched the ball not change direction and simply bounce off the catcher's glove, despite hitting it square in the center of the mitt. (He forgot to close it... )

Not going to waste time debating this, however, as Bonds flew out on the next pitch anyways.

Maddux struck him out looking.......on a pitch that wasn't close to questionable.......and he should have gotten the ring up before then.........and got squeezed bigtime...........nice try though.....keep on keep'n on for your false hero

Nice try? You're arguing over a guy striking another guy out! No trying and no debating! All great players get the calls!

Of course there's no debate. The ump heard something and made his call. Shit happens but apparently it happens to the Pads ore than most

If I cared to read? Did you read Maddux's full comment before you started talking, or just read what you wanted to read? He didn't say "I'm not going to pitch to him", that's not what he said. He said "You pitch around him IF YOU HAVE TO, TO WIN THE GAME". That's a completely different statement.
