    Padres Padres need

Does anyone else think that the Padres need to hurry up and get a big bat?

I mean, bradley and barret kind of help, and they have gonzalez, but they need a bigger bat that can help if they are gonna do any scoring past 5 runs a game as a win, ya kno?

they keep getting more pitchers, and they dont need them, they are already best in like baseball...

they should have made the linebrink deal for a big bat like in texiera or dunn or someone like that.

    idk

    anyone agree?

I agree. Texas would rather have Scott Linebrink instead of Saltawhawhawha, Elvis Andrews, and two other Braves scrubs.

Personally, Linebrink and Adrian Gonzalez for Giambi and Farnsworth would have been awesome.

Hell, we'll give you Kei Igawa and pay half his salary too.

Linebrink couldn't get us Dunn........our weren't you paying attention to the last year or so.......

Linebrink couldn't get us Teixiera either........for two reasons.......first, we took the best 1bman & pitcher the Rangers had already, and two, because of that Texas wont deal with us again for a long time........

Buster Olney was on Jim Rome this morning and said "The Padres aren't getting that big bat, they're more focused on their bench and perhaps another starting pitcher"

The same as the Pads but having the most wins in MLB history feels good.

Milton Bradley has done more than "kind of help"

In fact, what Milton Bradley has done since he got here is about what everyone expects that proverbial "big bat" to do....only he doesn't have the same reputation.

I'd rather have a ring than go 162-0 and have an empty finger.

The Padres and the San Francisco Giants are in the same boat in regards to what really matters.

I don't think anyone denies it.

It's a matter of the ability to acquire said offense.

Welcome to the forums, by the way

Without question......but you need to figure out a way to add w/o subtracting in our situation. We have a very solid core, there is no reason to panic and trade away your best players, and future.

Guys like Cameron are going to be FA, and if you need to move a name, these are the guys you try to move. Granted because they are FA they might not have as much value, so you add a prospect to sweeten the deal.

IMO we're really not that far away from having a potent offense, as screwy as that may sound......IMO one solid, consistant bat can change they dynamics of the entire lineup and how pitchers approach it. IMO we don't need a "big bat", we need a "consistant bat" to affect this change.

While they are rare, and it's easier said that done, we need to go after the 2bag that bats .300, has an OBP around .400, and is a gap/contact hitter who doesn't K much. Whether he is a high RBI guy, or HR hitter wont matter in this lineup. What will happen is that pitchers will have to adjust to someone that is a legit threat. This type of adjustment usually leads to other guys down in the lineup seeing better pitches, which should translate into more offense from the middle / bottom of our order.......

Along with that I think we need another #3 type of arm added to our rotation. We don't need a top of the rotation guy, but a solid #3 would be very nice to add, and could possibly be found......

Hope that helps you understand where I'm coming from at least.....
