    Re: Padres@Rocks 7/23/07-7/25/07

You know this was a hell of a lot easier when our starters were more predictable and we knew the bully would hold up, these days who knows. I mean know one has predicted a series in quite some time, so here goes. I gotta go with your gut there Wood.

Francis hasnt lost a game since June 5th, dont see him loosing this one although I will say the Pads always seem to hit him well for some reason.

CY has to win against this guy although I am sure Jimenez will dazzle and confuse the Padres.

JG vs Cook is the hardest to call, but I have to go with Cook at home against a sinking and flailing Padre team.

    Hope I am wrong but L - W - L...

    I(obviously) have no freakin idea!?
But I'll go with W-W-L.........what the hell.
We have got to get back to winning series'......It's not just the Dodgers we have to worry about,if we keep playing like this we won't even sniff the Wild Card.

I'm curious, every series you call a sweep, do you seriously think the Padres will sweep every series?

I usually base my predictions on starting pitching matchups most of the time, and IMO the Padres starters are better across the board for this entire matchup against Colorado. And I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that I have predicted a ton of the games started by David Wells as L's.

If only I knew that Scott Linestink would stink it up again.

Here we go with Scott Linebrink again....can we finally trade him and be done with it?

    For who?

That question will keep being asked until someone gives me a reasonable answer.

I will accept that he should have been traded for Rowand, but that doesn't help us now everytime someone cries he should be traded now every he gives up a home run or two.

Do you believe in the concept of dumping him just for the sake of dumping him?

    I don't.

What we should be saying is "relegate him to mop up duty, trade him if someone's actually willing to give anything of value for him"

    Re: Padres@Rocks 7/23/07-7/25/07

    For who? Here's my idea....

Move him to Houston as part of a package for Jason Jennings/Mark Loretta/Mike Lamb.

    Accoring to the Houston Chronicle...

"Jose_de_Jesus_Ortiz: Mark Loretta and one of the relievers will probably get shipped off for an outfielder and a third baseman. They'll be looking for prospects who will be able to help them for the next couple of years" (possibly Branyan/Cruz Jr or Sledge?)

When asked what the Astros could get for Loretta....

Jose_de_Jesus_Ortiz: I know the Mets are interested. I'm sure there are others. They could probably get a second-tier prospect for him right now.

Can the Padres only move a "second-tier" prospect for Loretta? If that's the case, you can move Linebrink in a bigger deal for another bat.
