    Padres Wells suspended 7 games

    Pitcher David Wells of the San Diego Padres has been suspended for seven games and fined an undisclosed amount for his inappropriate actions during the top of the fourth inning of his Club's game against the Atlanta Braves on Saturday, July 7th. Bob Watson, Vice President of On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.

    Unless appealed, the suspension of Wells is scheduled to begin during San Diego's game on Friday, July 13th versus the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field in Phoenix. If appealed, the suspension will be held in abeyance until the process is completed.

    So let me get this straight.

    Chris Young swings at another player (albeit in reaction to being swung at) and gets 5 days.

    David Wells throws a baseball at nobody and gets 7?

    Does this make little sense to anybody else?

    Makes no sense to me at all. He should appeal.

    What I don't understand is, Wells gets tossed, throws a ball against a screen and gets suspended 7 games, yet the umpire calls him a fat ass and gets to continue his job? How do umpires get to do whatever they want, yet can end a players game and possibly change the game?

    The umpire called Wells a fat ass? I didn't know that. I need to watch the highlight of his ejection.

    I didn't see that either, but according to a couple of guys at XX Sports Radio, he said "get your fat ass back on the mound"

    He said to Wells........get your F-U-CKING AS-S back up on the mound....not fatass..and started dropping F-bombs all over Wells, which is what set him off.....Wells has said this in interviews......He was fine until this guy F-bombed him
