I never said another guy WOULD have gotten any of those teams to the postseason, but I think I said a better manager might have, we'll never know.

Presuming I'm correct on this notion does it really make too much of a difference whether or not they could have and/or should have been at or above .500 when you take into account that 5 out of 6 playoff caliber rosters Bochy was given made the playoffs?
You're assuming he only had 6 playoff calibur teams......I disagree, and think that while some of the other rosters weren't as strong as the mid-late 90's teams, with better direction some could/should have at least made a run at the post season.....which Bochy failed miserably to do. Bochy relied on the players carrying him, he was a terrible in game manager, and often made/makes the wrong choice, or no choice resulting in a loss, or no shot at winning. Good managers can still get teams to be competitive regardless of whether they have stars on their roster.....and a few times Bochy had those and still couldn't get it done.....Not only could he not get it done, he couldn't get them over .500

Are you fellas going to wrap this up? Personally, I think it was time to move on from Bochy. As of this point, what does it change if we continue to argue about what he could or couldn't have done with the previous rosters? We don't know what another manager would or could have done with the previous rosters, regardless if it was Bruce Bochy or Joe Torre.

It doesn't change anything, it's just discussion for the sake of discussion.

I liked Bochy too, but how many times did you want to throw something at the TV or Radio, or screamed out loud at a game, when he made such a blatently horrible move, or lack of one ?

All I'm saying is that he's a sub .500 manager for more reasons than just personell.......saying it was all the players fault IMO is very weak, and for some teams down right insulting.

I think if Bochy had learned to alter his managerial style according to the type of teams he had, he'd have been, and could be, far more successful overall.
