Thread: Peavy gone when becomes a FA?

You guys better keep Jake Peavy.

And as a note, Rotoworld recently released their mid-season Top 150 prospects. The Padres had five players on there, but no pitchers. Granted, the Rotoworld List Maker is bad at it, but still...

The A's got rid of Tim Hudson, Mark Mulder, and Barry Zito and seem to be doing just fine in the pitching department.

As long as Sandy Alderson and Grady Fuson handle the draft well enough they should be fine even if Jake leaves for the big bucks.

And let me make it clear right now. IF Jake wants to go to free agency and go to who will give him the most money there isn't a damn thing Kevin Towers, John Moores, Sandy Alderson, or anybody else associated with the San Diego Padres can do to keep him here.

To be fair though, they traded Mulder to get one of their best SPs, their second best one was in the system before letting those three go, and one was simply a great, cheap pickup.

And I don't want Peavy in the AL. Keep him.

I wouldn't put it past the Padres to trade Peavy for a boat load if it becomes apparent that he won't sign an extension. (Not saying he will or he won't, just saying if)

But my main point is that if Peavy is dead set on going to free agency there's really nothing we could do about it regardless of who and what is or isn't in our system.

Show me where I said Buster was talking about Oswalt? I know he was talking about Loretta, Lo will be a Padre again in a few weeks for sure. I just brought up an idea to try and entice Houston to part with Oswalt. He's already been on record with the Houston Chronicle saying he'd waive his no-trade clause if Houston wanted to trade him.

I'd go so far as to say the Padres BETTER trade him for a truckload IF it becomes apparent he's not going to resign with us.

I'd prefer to see him in San Diego for the next 15 years of course, and never quite understood the whole, I want to play closer to home part of it. For the kind of money he's making he could move everyone in Alabama to Santee, and bring home here......Santee & Lakeside are damn near the same thing as Alabama anyway
