    You'd take Blum over Branyan?

I would love to bring Loretta back, he's a definite approvement over Blum both defensively and offensively. Loretta would much improve this bench and is a guy who can hit with RISP. Look for this to be a move that the Padres may actually look at if Houston continues to slide.

    I doubt Loretta is available.

Although I wouldn't be too shocked if he were.

So our line-up takes a big hit "anytime" he rests someone.
I wish we could get Loretta to go along with Bradley and Barrett.
That would truly improve our bench!
Loretta and Bradley would have every position covered.
I'd still keep Blum, but only as a pinch hitter, and we could lose Sledge or Branyan as far as I'm concerned!

On that Loretta subject, I talked to someone at XX Sports Radio who said Loretta is a "distinct possibility" to be in a Padre uniform again this season.

Yes,but only because we are limited with only one guy who can back up the middle infield spots.
Everytime Blum pinch hits I say the same thing to myself."Whats gonna happen if Greene or Giles gets banged up?"
We need to eliminate a few of the non-contact guys on this Team.....it's our Achilles heel!

I don't like seeing Blum out there. Yes he may be able to fill in for Greene or Marcus, but he sucks at the plate. That's why you bring Loretta in, send Geoff to Houston and you let LO fill in for Marcus or Khalil and you actually get more offensively as well.

Anyone opposed to sending Linebrink, Blum and Sledge/Cruz Jr. to Houston for Loretta and Berkman? I know it's far fetched, but I keep wondering if Houston wouldn't part with Berkman?

If Greene goes down........we'd have to promote or trade if it's prior to the deadline........starting Blum for a prolonged period is a death sentence to this season......I'm still on the Stansberry wagon.......he's still posting damn fine #'s and last time I checked was leading the league in doubles........WTF he's not on this team in the role he's likely suited best for is beyond me.....that's IF super utility player........We don't know if he can, but what we do know is that Blum can't ( this year ) which is all that matters

    Re: Braves@Padres 7/6/07-7/8/07

Obviously we would bring someone up for a prolonged absence...I was just talking about if either Marcus or Greene had to come out of a game or missed a few.Right now we have like four extra outfielders, but only Blum and Branyan in the infield. And Branyan is limited.
ONE guy to back up 1b,2b,and ss......and he's not very good.
But he is our most experienced pinch hitter.
If another infielder like Loretta is acquired,Blum would stay......unless he's part of the deal

Milton Bradley has made this offense at the least FEEL better after only one game.........and man he can cover some ground........he and Cameron need to work that out quickly......don't be afraid to talk out there guys.....

See what happens when you give him a start prior to the All Star break. Would you rather watch Cruz in left field, striking out with runners in scoring position or have Bradley in there who at least can put a little bit of fear in a pitcher.

I wasn't for him only getting the one start.......multiple starts IF he's ready I'm all for.....it's a "tune up" of sorts.......

That wasn't pointed at you PFF, that was pointed at the ones who wanted him to "rest until after the ASB".

I don't have any problem admitting I didn't like the Bradley deal, but if he continues to give this offense a boost and makes the defense that much better, I'm all for it. I'm happy to be wrong on this one.

    Re: Braves@Padres 7/6/07-7/8/07

Actually in all fairness.......I was one that wanted him to rest until after the break once I heard he was being placed back on the DL........but when the announced he'd be coming off a day before the break, I wasn't for him getting just one start..........multiple IM eyes are very different........

I know you didn't point that at me, but I was included in the group saying they should wait until after the ASB instead of playing ONE game
