Congrats to Chris Young. He definetly deserves it. And also that is who I put a bet down on.

Re: CY Makes the final cut

Rich Hill would've gotten 2nd place if he was on the ballot.

Plethora of Cubs fans + Homerific nature of fans in general = 2nd place finish for Cubs player

The real question is why was Zambrano even on the ballot?

Chris Young's performance thus far was just too much to ignore, though.

For those of you who don't read the ESPN chats....this response on why Roy Oswalt was more deserving than Chris Young.

Can you explain why someone would select Roy Oswalt over Chris Young for the All-Star Game?

Keith Law: See my last answer on Oswalt. Young doesn't have the track record, he gets a huge benefit from that ballpark, and he's had a pretty easy time of it schedule-wise too. Not that he's bad, just that he's behind Oswalt for me.

So let me get this straight, Chris Young shouldn't be an All-Star because he hasn't been an All Star before and he has an easy schedule? What is this, the BCS? What an arrogant prick.
    FRESNO STATE SCHEDULE

    v. Sacramento State W 24-3 (1-0)

    @ (25) Texas A&M L 47-45 3 OT's (1-1)

    @ Oregon L 54-21 (1-2)

    v. Louisiana Tech W 17-6 (2-2, 1-0)

    @ Nevada W 49-41 (3-2, 2-0)

    @ Idaho W 37-24 (4-2, 3-0)

    v. San Jose State W 30-0 (5-2, 4-0)

    v. Boise State L 34-21 (5-3, 4-1)

    v. Utah State W 38-27 (6-3, 5-1)

    @ Hawaii L 37-30 (6-4, 5-2)

    v. Kansas State W 45-29 (7-4, 5-2)

    @ New Mexico State

Roy Oswalt was next on the list of the players voting ......the position defaulted to him automatically when Smoltz bowed out.......it's that simple

And Law didn't really say anything that was wrong.

Homepark: Hard to deny he's really been helped by the spacious dimensions of Petco. The splits this year say it all. 2.5 ERA difference, 10 less hits allowed in 7 more innings, no HR allowed, yet the park consistent stats stay the same (walks, K's).

Track Record: Obviously Oswalt has a better track record. No debating there.

Schedule: Young hasn't faced one team in the Top 5 in runs scored. He faced Boston (6th), Colorado (9th), Florida (10th), and Seattle x2 (11th) for his most difficult starts.

Of course, I voted for CY with Okajima (because I'm biased and he has been lights out) when I voted, so I disagree with Law. His points are factually based though

While that may be true it's a dumb point for the argument that's trying to be made.

Those going to the 2007 All Star Game should be for those who are having a good season in 2007. Track record from previous seasons is irrelevant.

It's a moot argument since both are going, but I thought I'd throw that out there.

It's moot because it didn't matter........

oswalt was going the second smoltz backed out because of the player voting

While that may be true an argument was still made as to why Oswalt apparently deserved to go in before CY regardless of what actually got Oswalt in before CY.

Re: CY Makes the final cut

Well then forget Oswalt........why wasn't CY voted in as the overall unanymous starter ? Oswalt is so far down on the list, he's the last guy that should be discussed shouldn't he ? CY should have been at the top if not the top of player voting........why not extend the discussion to this instead of focusing on Oswalt ? I guess I'm missing it
