Give Boomer credit, he's been on his game tonight. I thought this was going to be another 1-0, 2 hit win, but see what happens when you do the little things. Stolen base, sac fly, now 3-0 Padres.

    3 or 4 runs?

Jake only needs 1 or 2, and I'd like to think even the Padres offense can muster that against Byung-Hyun Kim.

But they have made worse pitchers look good, so who knows.

Here's a question I want to throw out there just to get your guys' take on it. The Rangers are probably going to start selling off pieces of their roster, guys like Gagne, Otsuka, maybe Teixeira(sp?). Can you package a deal with Linebrink and possibly a few other players, for Gagne and maybe Lofton?

Tell Gagne he'll get the chance to stick it to the Dodgers 18 times a year and getting Lofton will be like getting a bonified leadoff hitter. Don't take this as I'm saying I want these 2 guys because it's not going to happen, but if your KT, do you think about either of these 2 players?

    Thoughts?

    Lofton yes.....Gagne no.
And neither now I'm sure with Bradley coming on board.
Lofton would fill a couple needs and at his age and salary would be a small committment.
But now I think B.Giles is gonna stick in the leadoff spot anyway.
Gagne would cost 5-6 mil and too many other Teams would offer more players and could afford that salary because they would use him as a Closer.....we wouldn't

You ask the same question about bringing in a Lofton that you would about bringing in Adam Dunn...where do you put him? Right now you have Brian Giles, Mike Cameron and Milton Bradley in the outfield. If Bradley puts up good numbers, KT could very well offer him in a deal for a bigger bat, yes I know it's unlikely, but anything could happen.

My thought on Gagne is, how much longer is Trevor going to be around? Correct me if I'm wrong, but he's only signed through 2008 correct? If that's the case, do you really want to hand the closer reigns over to Scott Linebrink or would you feel more comfortable with Eric Gagne?

Oh my, CY was straight dealing tonight. Devastating fastball again. It's pretty sad that the Pads can't even muster one run of support for him against a pretty crappy Marlins pitching staff, tonight.

Definetely a weird way to end a ballgame, but you take what they give you. Now, we have to make sure the Braves finish off the Dodgers tonight.

    Re: Marlins@Padres 7/2/07-7/5/07

Yet another example of why the W/L stat is overrated due to the way it's awarded.

I don't care who was pitching when, it should be the official scorekeeper's decision and it should be defaulted to the starter unless the game's circumstances dictate otherwise.
