I agree with PFF I would rather he be at home with his feet kicked up on the ottoman for those days resting rather than traveling and going through all the BS of the ASG for as you put it, maybe one inning of pitching. If he was a position player and was planning on playing most of the game maybe, but for what he gets out of it, let him just rest at home and watch the game.

So now travel makes him tired?

Geez, the guy must be a slug. It's a wonder how he makes it through an entire season.

Dude I travel for a living at my job, and yes it tires you out. Hhhmmmm sitting at home taking a few days off to relax and watch a baseball game , or flying around the country sleeping in hotels, signing autographs, playing 1 inning in a game, lugging shit around, what do you think is less tiring HWood. Come on???

    Re: Chris Young snubbed again

If you compare it to sitting at home and relaxing of course that is less "tiring"

I'm simply contesting the notion that the travel/1 inning game would be so tiring that it will cause him to have a poor 2nd half, as is being suggested.

HWood.......he's had problems getting through an entire season......that's the whole point man........his stamina has been a ? in the past.......I'm suggesting he need not DO anything for that week.....he'll serve his suspension.....then he'll be "fresh" for the 2nd half run........

We CAN'T afford for him to peter out in the 2nd half.....and we'd be stupid to do anything to lend to that.....that's all I'm suggesting.......

And I was in the Navy, I know all about travel.

But I doubt CY flies coach.

Also, the travel would be from San Diego to San Francisco.

What is that? A 30 minute flight?

I'm not contesting that, I'm simply asking how one inning in one game will change anything.

The rest at the ASB didn't help him out last year or the year before, what makes you think it will this year?

HWood......have you ever been to an Allstar Game, or the Allstar Experience ? Its far more than just showing up and playing 1 inning for these guys......come on man......thats not what's being said or suggested....get over that

You were in the Navy, that explains a lot. Whatever, a 40 minute flight first class still doesnt equate to a free ride in the Lazy Boy.

I was at the ASG in 1989 (I think) when it was in Anaheim.

I'm also not contesting the notion that, compared to sitting at home and kicking your feet up, that it's not as "relaxing"

I'm simply perplexed at how this one day event of signing autographs, BSing with other all stars, and pitching an inning, to go with the 30 minute flight from San Diego to San Francisco is going to be detrimental on his 2nd half performance.

But, whatever, if you want to boost the Cubs fans' ego go help them vote for Carlos "shitty performance up till 2 weeks ago" Zambrano

And, again, that's not what I'm arguing.

I'd have to have an IQ in the single digits to think that relaxing at home is more tiring than the ASG and the events that go with it.

No need to put words in my mouth.

I'm simply contesting the notion that Chris Young needs the 3 days of rest lest he has a horrible 2nd half...one that he's supposedly wouldn't have if he has those 3 days.

    Re: Chris Young snubbed again

I know he should have made it.......it's crystal clear to any "fan" of the game........but I'm not going to freak out if he doesn't go because I'd rather he was well rested to start the 2nd half.......it's that simple......

FYI.......it will be more than 1 day for players........between interviews, autographs, pictures etc.....it'll likely be 3

To be clear, I won't "freak out" if he's not in either.

I just find the notion that 3 days of "work" will have such a drastic affect on his 2nd half performance to be silly

    Re: Chris Young snubbed again

It may NOT have any affect......but then again........I just might.........I'm for taking the side that we don't need to find out.......

If CY had never had problems with his stamina down the stretch.....I would NOT be saying this.......but he's petered out before.......do you want that to happen again ? Would you not do everything possible to try to ensure this doesn't happen again if you could ? This is what I'm trying to get you to understand........that extra week could have an adverse affect......nobody has said it WILL .......just that it COULD ........thats not a part of fate that needs tempting IMO
