I just wonder about that, you won't give Cust a shot on your major league club, knowing full well this kid has some pop, because of his questionable defense. Yet, now they're starting Branyan in left with the same defensive problems as well as the multiple strikeouts? Who is making these calls in the Front Office?

When your problem is scoring runs, why trade a kid who could have helped you in that department?

Well we were in first place and playing damn good ball at the time Cust was let go......and I think if I'm not mistaken.....Cruz Jr was still raking and Giles was still "healthy" ?? He had no place on this roster.....none whatsoever, and KT couldn't stop him from going at this point........from what I understand we actually did very well just to get 100k for him

I would like to make the preemptive strike to point out, yet again, that this debate started before the the Boston game.

Re: Trade Scott Linebrink before it's too late?

Well I'm certainly not going to be making any favorable arguments for Scotty now, but this debate started when I was informed that I was only under the impression that Linebrink had been good "as of late" due to his lack of use, despite evidence posted to the contrary.

Maybe pff is Nostradamus or something I knew what was going to happen.

A couple more reasons that now is the time to trade Linebrink.
He is a F.A after this year.......we will not pay him what he thinks he's worth....get what we can now.
The rest of our Pen is as good as it may have ever been......we can afford to trade him more now than ever before.

Re: Trade Scott Linebrink before it's too late?

Someone on another board had an interesting idea........

    Linebrink for Lastings Milledge ?

One of the ideas being if we don't trade Linebrink and lose him to FA, we'll get a comp pick in return.......would Milledge be > comp pick ? He just might be a great future OFer for us......

Anyway figured I'd toss that out there in here

    Re: Marlins@Padres 7/2/07-7/5/07

It's easy to say we "should have traded him" but, unless you think we should have traded him just for the purpose of trading him (even if the return was a rubber band) you can't make any insinuations of the front office not doing what they "should have" done unless you know of a fair return that was offered and turned down.

I find it hard to believe that anybody in contention would give up what we'd need (and thus lose it) and I find it hard to believe that anybody not in contention would give up a good trading piece for a guy they could lose at season's end. Or, more importantly, a guy they can sign at season's end.

    -Linebrink for Betemit ( I don't play hindsight )
-Linebrink for Rowand ( KT's love affair ruined this deal )
-Linebrink for ( I'm sure there are more deals KT turned down over the last two years we either have forgotten about, or didn't know about )

Even if hindsight tells you it would've been a horrible deal?
