Padres Gonzo's golden glove = 3-6-4 double play

    SignOnSanDiego.com > Sports -- Gonzo's golden glove = 3-6-4 double play

Suppan obliged by tapping the ball toward Gonzalez, who grabbed it and threw in one motion to Blum to force Counsell at second base. Because Gonzalez had attacked the bunt so aggressively, Blum's return throw was made to Giles, covering first base. That's 3-6-4, if you're scoring.

Just how rare is that scoring notation? Answer: roughly as rare as a triple play. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, there have been five 3-6-4 double plays turned in the major leagues since the start of the 2006 season. Three of them were initiated by Adrian Gonzalez, including both of those recorded this year.
