Padres farm system isn't as bad as some are making it out to be anymore......it's actually not bad at all......the thing is the strenghts are at A and AA not at AAA.......so the values aren't exactly super high right now.....but they do exist
I wonder why they don't give PMac more of a shot. I think, given the AB's, he can be a producer in this lineup plus he's not that bad of a defensive outfielder.

Because he's not that good.......while he may give you 100%, it's only 100% of what he's got to offer......and I'm not sure thats enough

Only because he isnt an every day player and he is vying for a position. I can guarantee you that if was an everyday player he would have trotted down the line taking his helmet and gloves off as he did like the rest of those over paid, milk fed, spoiled rotten, brats.
Wouldn't it be wise to hang on to Headley since Kouzmanoff is doing so poorly?
I like the idea of trying Kouz in outfield next spring.
However, this assumes 2 things, neither of which I'm fully sure of being the case.
- Headley being major league ready next year
- Kouz continuing to come around with the bat. (Not to mention being able to hack it in the OF)

Yes unless they feel Stansberry can handle the job before Headley is even ready......This kid seems to have figured things out at age 25, and is tearing up AAA to the tune of a 900+ OPS, and can play SS, 3rd and 2nd very well.....I think he was voted best fielder in the Pirates farm system a couple years ago which to me says he's a damn good glove to go with what is turning into a damn good bat.......he's also got some speed......
He seems to be more of a super utility kind of guy, but he just might be a good fit at 3rd for us before Headley is ready if Kouz continues to struggle....Thankfully Kouz his hitting near .290 over the last month, so it seems like his bat is starting to make the turn.......it's going to be tough for him to overcome his Apl. stats though......but this time next month I think we'll know more of what we can expect from him
What was said is that PMac will give you 100% all the time........but his 100% might not be enough......the reason for that is he's not exactly the most gifted athlete.......he reminds me of Pete Rose in that aspect.......he's all hustle, and might have a career because of it........if he were a kickass contact hitter, and could do a 25' head first dive, he would be Pete Rose reincarneted
That's not what that original post said about PMac. It was insinuated that PMac would just trot (a la Barry Bonds) if he was vying for an every day spot. He didn't say "his 100% may not be enough".

If you throw out April he isn't doing that poorly.
Even his outs are mostly hit hard now.
The first 5-6 Weeks or so he was striking out on pitches out of the zone every game....not anymore.
As a matter fact,if he keeps hitting like this, gets his average up to .265+,with his RBI production he has a chance for ROY.
I guess his defensive shortcomings have them a little worried?
I think Headley will only stick around till Kouz is healthy and then go to AAA
Branyan and Blum are the ones who need to be worried!
