5/14 Reds at Padres (Reds Looking To Snap A Losing Streak Against A Legend)

Matt Belisle's idol is Greg Maddux, made even more so by Belisle growing up in the Braves organization that drafted him. Just a fun fact to add another interesting element to the game.

Re: 5/14 Reds at Padres (Reds Looking To Snap A Losing Streak Against A Legend)

Hey guys, I am posting the Game Thread here hoping maybe we can get some Padres and Reds fans posting on it.

Freel is a bit early on it and pops it up towards foul ground, Jose Cruz Jr. races over and records the first out with his glove over in the stands.

Hatteberg with an easy grounder to Khalil "Don't Call Me Spicoli" Greene.

The Padres overshift on NL Player of The Week Griffey, who hits a grounder right at Adrian Gonzalez who easily records the third out. Easy first inning for Maddux.

Marcus Giles scorches a liner right off the leaping glove of Hatteberg and he ends up standing up at 2nd.

Jose Cruz Jr. rips a hit into right, the Padres hold Lil' Giles at third.

Belisle seemed to want nothing to do with Brian Giles and pitches around him until ball four.

The always dangerous Adrian Gonzalez is sent back to the dugout with a popup.

Greene and his golden locks with a flyout to Jr. who makes a wide throw that allows Lil' Giles to score and the other runs advance. Two outs.

Former Red and struggling batter Mike Cameron rips a deep hit past the centerfielder Hamilton that is good for three bases and two runs. 3-0 Padres.

Josh Bard with a hard grounder that Hatteberg knocks down and records the third out, but not before the damage is done.

Phillips puts a charge into one, but it dies as it heads into LF and the out is recorded.

Maddux painted the corner for his first punchout to a displeased Adam Dunn.

Hamilton with a broken bat that goes literally almost as far as the ball he hit to the 2B Giles.

    Maddux is rolling.

Well, I'm going to chalk this one up to the Pad's. Belisle is looking horrible tonight. Worst record in the ML......here the Reds come!

Kevin Kouzmanoff hits a double that bounces off the wall in left, a first pitch fastball right over the plate.

Maddux, on the first pitch, with a perfect bunt to advance the runner. Not a shocker with him.

Belisle plunks Giles and we got them on the corners now. Belisle does not look like the same guy we've seen this season at all.

Cruz with a hot grounder to Phillips who can only turn one out, 4-6 fielders choice. Kouzmanoff scores, 4-0 Padres.

Giles with a hit into centerfield to continue the hit parade.

Gonzalez pops up, again, thankfully and the Padres get their third out.

It's going to be a long one for Reds fans tonight.

I don't know if he is intimidated by facing Maddux or what, either way, this doesn't look promising, obviously.

They just had a preview for MLB The Show (for the PS3) on, it looks pretty sweet.

Gonzalez with a swing in the dirt, and that's the seventh straight that Maddux has sat down.

Valentin with an easy grounder to 2nd for out number two.

Belisle is up and hits a grounder to short for the third out.

Maddux is running this game like vintage Maddux would (or the Maddux that nearly had a perfect game against the Reds last season.) Age is just a number with this guy, at least when he faces the Reds.

Nice to have a pitcher who can bunt.

    Kouz is 2 for 2.

Re: 5/14 Reds at Padres (Reds Looking To Snap A Losing Streak Against A Legend)

Khalil with his 12th double of the year, a liner into centerfield that Hamilton ranged back for, but bounced off his glove.

Cameron with a grounder to SS for the first out, Greene advances.

Bard with a bloop into center that takes the score to 5-0 territory. When it rains, it pours.

Kouzmanoff, who has struggled huge this season, picks up his second hit of the night. Runners at 1st and 2nd.

Maddux, like clockwork, on the first pitch sacrifices the runners over. Jared Burton is warming up in the Reds pen.

Lil' Giles grounds out to Freel at third and the bleeding stops temporarily.

They left 2 stranded, but it's 5-0 now so I'm pleased.

Freel with a little bouncer to the right of the pitchers mound, Maddux of course has the glove skills to take care of it, one down.

Hatteberg with a bouncer to Lil' Giles. Maddux is simply owning this lineup right now.

Griffey is rung up looking. Maddux is perfect through three.
