Jake just tied his career high/Padres record with 16 strike outs.

Smells of last year, Jake throws a gem and gets zero run support and doesnt get the win. New players same game.

Well in all fairness he did get some the start prior to this.......but we'll know as the season progresses how many times this happens........I'm keeping track this year.......

5-0 Actually, hard to go 6-0 in only 5 games.

Anyways, it's hard to blame this one on the offense. I'll explain in my next post.

The offense did what they needed to do. They scored 2 runs against a Cy Young winner.

Don't blame this one on the offense, they did what was needed, blame this one on Linebrink and Hoffman.

And, in all fairness, they were going up against a Cy Young award winner and scored 2 runs, which gave Peavy all the runs he needed.

Had the Padres bullpen only come through like they normally do...

I haven't seen bite on his breaking ball like last night's since Peavy first came up. It was an amazing performance that was just spoiled. I was rooting for him to try and get 20. But to say it is last year all over again is absurd. He simply didn't have a good year.

Yeah, Peavy had some pretty horrible (for him) starts last year.

Don't get me wrong, he got burned by lack of run support on more than one occasion. But he also lost plenty of games on his own.

Show me where I said it is last year all over again, I said it smelled of last year, which means it has some parts that are reminicent of last year. I know he wasn't on top of his game last year, but I also remember that many times when the Padres didn't score any runs in a game it was Jake on the mound, and I remember there was lots of talk about it and how he never once blamed his team but rather took it out on himself.

All that aside, last night's game is still not on the offense.

They did what they needed to do against the cy young winner Brandon Webb.

The bullpen is to blame for last night.

You compared it to last year so what's the big deal?

It's no big deal I just dont like people misquoting me. There is a big differenc between saying this is reminiscent of last year, and this is just like last year, thats all.

Thats what these forums are all about having an opinion and making a point and if someone misunderstans the point being made, then we have the ability to clarify it.

My apologies but I wasn't really quoting you. If I did, I would put quotes marks around it. Point is Peavy was greatness last night and I loved it!
