    Padres give Gonzalez $9.5 million, 4-year deal - Wire Services - Baseball - MSNBC.com

    9.5 mil for 4 years.

Option in 2011 is worth 5.5 mil

    That's a bargain.

Wait a minute here. The Padres signed a guy who hit .300 with 24 homers and 82 RBI last year for just $2.375 mil a year? Talk about a bargain. Great deal for someone who will be hitting 30 homers a year for years to come, and maybe tack on some gold gloves for good measure.

That Adam Eaton/Aki Otsuka deal is looking even better now.

It would look better if we had resigned Eaton. We didn't need Gonzalez anyway. Better for him to go somewhere he could actually get some playing time.

Adrian Gonzalez has done well for himself, considering he was the "no name" #1 overall pick in 2000. Also, you can put the Adrian Gonzalez vs. Jason Stokes debate to rest.

If you are a Padres fan and you don't know who Jason Stokes is, first get the LT bobblehead out of your ass and then google Adrian Gonzalez and Jason Stokes.

Would be better if he wasn't a couple years away from arbitration and a couple more away from Free Agency. He was going to be a Padre no matter what.

Then out of fairness to the others you will be Slagathor.

I think they thought he might end up a super two and push arbi early.......and why would you chance that? Instead they just locked him up now on the cheap for years to come.......I know you're not saying it was a bad move, but I think this makes it an even better move.....
