I must say, Termell is off to a good start, 3 HR's including a Grand Slam today.

    Padres

Ok all we're here and having a blast.....wifey and son are taking a nap right now so I figured now was as good a time as any to give an update....

Today I spoke with Darren Balsey for approx. 5 min.....it was early in the day and the Padres were running a split squad away from Peoria, so there were really no people on the Padres side of the spring training facility, and he gave me some time.....He was working with Clay Hensley in a side session and I asked him how Carillo was doing. Balsey said that Cesar's arm was 100%, and the only thing he's got going on right now is a slight hammy strain...nothing big, just a strain.....I asked him if he thought that if the pieces fell into place whether or not Carillo would be up with the club, and he said that he felt his chances were very good this year.....Clearly not to start the season, but near the break is the feeling I was getting.....so great news on the Carillo front.....

We got to see the Sledge GSHR and that was nice nice....too bad it was in a losing effort.....thanks Hoffy .......One thing I will say about Sledge is that I wasn't really aware of how much power this guy can generate....the ball he hit was crushed, and had some arc to it as well.....it was a booming shot.....if he can do close to what he's doing now during the regular season, we're all going to be eating crow and saying Dave Roberts who ???

Got to watch Maddux, Peavy, CY and Stauffer take BP.......one thing is for sure....it's clear that Peavy wants to distinguish himself as a hitter, and not just a hitting pitcher....should be interesting to see if he can take the same types of cuts during a game that he was taking during BP......oh and during this session......Trevor was playing SS.....lol....it was kinda strange watching him take grounders out there....

I got a chance to see our upcoming stud Cedric Hunter taking BP and fielding balls on one of the side fields.....he looks very smooth for someone so young, and the ball seems to jump off his bat fairly well.....of course it's pretty much soft toss BP for these guys so take it for what it's worth.....

Still have no idea how to upload a pic to this damn site, so no pictures of anyone for you guys......sorry.......I'm setting up a blog and will just post that link at another time....

    Padres vs. Rockies tomorrow......gonna be 89-91 degrees.....whew !!!
    GO PADRES !!!!

Sledge with another home run. He's tearing it up in spring training. Hopefully he can carry it over to the real games.

Only thing I can tell you about Sledge is that his swing is very very smooth, and it appears that he's able to hit the middle of the ball.....the reason I say that is that just about everything this guy hits, is hit very hard, and not with a mighty Mike Piazza like swing, it's fluid, controlled and has a ton of power.....I'm very pleasantly surprised......it probably goes without saying that he's seeing the ball very well right now........as HWood has said lets hope he can carry it over......

We're back in San Diego now......great trip.......sunburned......can't wait for opening day.......got the itch like crazy now : )

If you're still looking for that backup for Khalil Greene and still curious about Damian Jackson, he was released in the first round of cuts the other day after getting 2 hits in 18 at bats. He subsequently started throwing chairs in the clubhouse after hearing the bad news. Now is your chance

I've seen all I need from Branyan in LF......with Sledge, PMac and Cruz all hitting well and fielding......no need for Branyan to venture into LF unless there are a ton of injuries....

Kouz also hit a 450+' double today off the top of the batters eye....for those that have never been to Peoria....that's a LOOOOOONG way
