I'm sorry but if Mussina can make $19 million without ever winning a Cy Young, how can he not earn it by winning three? As I see how the deal is structured it probably won't be a bargain on down the road as he will make the bulk of his contract in his later years. Watch Carlos Zambrano get the same amount per year as he is the only FA worth a **** in '08.

And of course he could get hurt but Zito is 4 years younger than when Brown signed his contract. This is a much smarter move than the Brown signing.

And Giles is only signed to a one year deal so hoping he pans out doesn't make sense. Padres need to think about restructuring Peavy's contract or else he go bye bye after 08.

Zambrano will get insane money, I dont like Zito's contract but people's eyes will really be popping out of their heads when they see what he receives. He will probably get a 10-year, $200 million contract.
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett

You can't say Zito did live up to it either, that's in the future.

Just making sure it wasn't being implied with the post I quoted.

Now I get to hear you all tell me how bad of a signing it was while Zito shuts us out. Nice going Moores and co., he would've signed a similar deal worth only 16 per for us easily.

Hey Reefer, what's with Zito changing his pitching rotation? That's exactly the way you want your $17m man to come into camp right?

what should be interesting is to see whether or not Zito's curveball will be effective in two of the NLWest's ballparks.....AZ and CO.....both are never nice to breaking ball pitchers...one due to heat the other elevation......he might just get lit up bigtime in those two places.....
