Yeah, well FF, you seem to think you can trade your shit and get Manny Ramirez. Something tells me that's not how it works.

If Boston signs Drew, they may very well be looking to unload Manny's contract, and he could possibly be had for less than his perceived value...I think this has a chance to happen this year....more so than other years....but time will tell

    Padres

Dry, they've already said that Manny can be a bargain compared to years past. It has also been said, by more than one writer, that Boston has had interest in Scott Linebrink and I think the Padres would be willing to move him in the right deal.

I'll be peeved if the Sox deal Ramirez where the jewel of the deal is a middle reliever. He's an elite hitter whose contract is suddenly reasonable

Then out of fairness to the others you will be Slagathor.

Fisher, to be honest, I think it would be a mistake for the Sox to deal Manny Ramirez. I don't know how you can replace 35-40 HR's and 115-120 RBI's a year.

I don't know if I'd say his contract has become reasonable....it's been suggested that Manny might waive the notrade if, and only IF the team he's dealt to picks up both options left on his contract....thats a total of 4 years or something...at something like 18M/year....so maybe from the standpoint that it's ONLY 4 years as opposed to 7....but still....it's 18M/year or whatever it is...I'm sure I'll be corrected over the dollar amount soon enough

One thing is certain to me...... Peavy/AGon have more value IMO than Manny....so that deal is a bad deal IMO

    Padres

The more I think about it, the more this deal may come back to haunt the Padres. Yes, they still need bat in left field, but I just don't think Manny is what they want to get themselves into. Especially with the kind of money he is going to command. You could spend $18m\year on a big free agent like Barry Zito.

Zito goes once every 5 days.....never do I want to see us spend that kind of money, unless it's the smallest contract on our team...

I would rather us get two 2nd tier arms for 18M than Zito......the money would be much better spent and we need two arms....

Maddux wouldn't be an expensive free agent. Yes, he wants 2 years, but it would only be a $20m contract for those 2 years. Not bad if you ask me.
