**** Manny. He is no way worth Peavy and Adrian Gonzalez.

That three way deal demolishes everyone but SD. I don't see that happening.

It'll be Linebrink/Cameron/Hensley/Minor League Hitter for Clement, Manny, Minor League Pitcher.

Then Clement and 2 minor leaguers for Giles and a minor leaguer.

    SD gets: Giles, Manny.
BOS gets: Cameron, Hensley, Linebrink, Minor Leaguer.
ATL gets: Clement, 2 minor leaguers.

This would be the most likely, and I doubt Boston does pull the trigger, unless its a top knotch hitter like Headley or Kouzmanoff or a top knotch pitcher like Carillo or Stauffer.

According to this one, the Braves get absolutely ****ed. As for Fmr's offer, I have not read one thing about the Sox wanting Greene or Giles.

1st, I wouldn't exactly call Stauffer a "top knotch" pitcher.

2nd, no way the Padres trade Mike Cameron. He's a Gold Glove CFer that is a hard guy to replace. Why trade Barfield away for a Kouzmanoff if you're just going to end up trading him away and still have a gaping hole at 3rd?

3rd, why trade Hensley after he proved he can be a 4 or 5 starter in this rotation?

Reefer, according to news out of Boston, the Padres are offering "Major League players". The only deal that makes sense to me for San Diego is sending Linebrink, Giles and Greene to Boston to get Ramirez and Pena in return.

Red Sox don't need Giles, they need Cameron and Cameron hasn't played GG defense the past couple of seasons.

Seeing as he spent the 2nd half of last season on the DL after getting his face crushed in, I would say he had a hell of a year in CF this season for the Padres. If he didn't play GG defense, why did he get the GG this season?

Boston doesn't want Cameron actually, they're after Andruw Jones which is why there's talk about a 3-way deal.

Because when you win one Gold Glove award, the voters will almost assuredly give you five more. In short, gold glove voting is awful and Cameron didn't deserve one for 06.

Cameron didn't deserve a GG? Tell me why? Did you see some of the balls he ran down and the diving catches he made in CF? He's probably been the best CFer in San Diego since, in my opinion, Steve Finley back in '98.

Point was they want a CFer and have no need for Giles. Of course they would rather have Jones over Cameron but for straight up with the Pads they would want Cameron. Cameron's name has been mentioned and not Giles and for a reason. And I can't really see the Sox getting rid of Pena as he helps fill Manny's hole in the OF. As for Cameron winning the GG, its the same reason Bonds won his last four and that's reputation. He has lost his magic since 04 with his injuries. I can name more deserving guys for GG as we can every year.

The Red Sox are filling Manny's OF spot with J.D. Drew, which is why the Sox are more likely to trade Manny than years prior. As far as the Sox wanting Cameron, he's a CFer, which is where Coco Crisp is right now.

The talk about a three-way deal with the Braves, with All-Star center fielder Andruw Jones landing in Boston, won't die.

And the Sox have been trying to trade Crisp which is why they want guys like Cameron and Jones. Drew as of now fills Nixon's hole. If Manny and Crisp are traded (which the Sox want) Pena will have to play left and Drew in RF.

That's a good article Reefer, and I tend to believe a writer like Ken Rosenthal. The reason I tend to believe the article is he backs it up with opinions that are close to fact.

One baseball man who knows Ramirez expresses doubt that the slugger would agree to go to San Diego and play his home games at Petco Park, one of the toughest hitter's parks in the majors.

Ramirez, mindful of his Hall of Fame chances, might reject a move to Dodger Stadium for similar reasons. Besides, who's to say that the Dodgers, in the end, would view him as the best possible investment? His defense is even more problematic outside of Fenway Park.
Think about it: The Dodgers could sign free-agent right-hander Jason Schmidt, trade right-hander Brad Penny for a corner outfielder, then take a run at Jones, Wells or Torii Hunter next off-season while retaining all of their top prospects.

Other teams also might view Ramirez as too expensive, either in players, dollars or both.
The Giants' interest in Ramirez might simply be to make Barry Bonds sweat in free agency. Signing Bonds for one year probably would be a better move for them than getting Ramirez for four or more in a league in which he could not be a DH.
The Angels, sources say, will pursue Ramirez only if owner Arte Moreno demands that the front office acquire him. The team's baseball people are opposed to such a move; the club already has two corner outfielders with limited range, Garret Anderson and Vladimir Guerrero.
