Nope you're right.....he was shut down and didn't have much time in AAA, and he will get until the ASB, maybe sooner to get up to speed....If Boomer signs, we're going to need Thompson, Carillo & Stauffer to all be ready for a fill in role...lol

I think Kouz has the bat, but then so did Arias and Burroughs. Neither worked out and both were younger when they hit the bigs.Originally Posted by padrefanforever
So lets hope that his continued improvement as he came up in the Minors continues this upcoming year.
Carrillo was spectacular at times early in the year and if his injury was not serious will probably continue his progress.Originally Posted by padrefanforever
Regardless of if the PAdres sign Wells, Mulder, Johnson or any number of other pitchers for the 5 spot they will still need guys like Thopson, Carrillo and Stauffer to fill the void when the inevitable injuries strike.
Of course....that goes without saying...and is kinda what AAA is for....
It looks like Arizona is going to bring back Randy Johnson, pick up his contract from the Yankees, plus sign him to a 2 year extension.
I'm surprised that Jeff Weaver hasn't either re-signed with St. Louis or signed with another team as of yet. I haven't even heard his name mentioned with any teams for that matter. I think KT may be waiting to find out if Wells wants to come back, if not, he may take a shot at Weaver. We'll have to wait and see.....

Looks like we have 14+M left to spend on a LFer....say someone like Adam Dunn ?
Wells' can be 7 mil if he hits his incentives.
Do you have incentives factored into the payroll?

Nope....I don't expect him to hit all his incentives...but I'm also basing this payroll on 70M not 75+m....so we have some leeway there
I wonder if making a deal with Milwaukee for Geoff Jenkins could still be a possibility. I would assume not though.....

$60.61 approx. not including incentives which could take payroll over $70M easily.....and we've upgraded our rotation, bullpen, and addressed 3rd base with a potential masher, swapped out a quality 2bag for another quality 2bag, and cut payroll at the sametime.....LF is still a huge questionmark, but if Sledge turns out to be the real deal, that position will be upgraded also....and all of this for 10-15M less than last year....This leaves us in a great position with our $$$ to make a mid-season p/u should we need one to help get over the hump....it's been a pretty impressive offseason, not sexy, but if you step back and look at it, not bad at all....would I like them to have gotten us a known impact player of course, but we're primed to have young stars at a few positions for years to come.....not bad
